Looks like Kirin is about to join the ranks of multiple classic German car owner. Good for you, my friend. These 2 are going to look great parked side by side.

It'll probably get a name sometime during the drive from the windy city in the summer.
But I like it..

I hope the name it earns on the way back is something along the lines of \"Herr Model of Reliability\".

Correction since I suffer from \"footinmouthitis\"
\"Probably a lot of vw owners during the 70's upgraded from their volkswagens to a 2002 since it was a german car and only cost a little more then a reasonably equivalent volkswagen during the time period. And they were a reasonable amount more car for the amount of dollars\"
And yeah I drive a ford ranger and am single.
And why do I say this because I suffer from foot in mouthitis

No your single because you drive a Ford, OOps Pointblank the resident Ford lover is going to beat me down for this.

No Offence but in the 60's and early 70's if I had the extra cash I'd go the way of a 356 or 911, but ya a 2002 is a good choice as well. At least the tail lights look like T34 ghia lights ^_^

To each their own.
Obviously some other vw owners bought P-cars or other german cars or went for something a little differant. I love my bug as much as I bitch about it and I'll never sell it. But I want something a bit differant the 02 fits the bill. I'm not selling my soul to the devil. And well I'm not going to drive a ford any more and I'm working on getting a girlfriend maybe one day
Anyways for the 02 that one doesn't have the t34 ghia rear lights its a squarelight. But a perfect candidate to go to a m3 motor conversion..
And for the price its cheaper then any volkswagen that I wanted is going for.

I'll try to translate Kirinese into English for the rest of us. What he was referring to was a BMW print ad from 1973. They parked a Bug beside a 2002, and the caption on the ad was something like \"Why Are So Many VW Owner's Trading Up for BMW?\". The ad went on to explain how smart the people were for buying Bugs, because it taught them how solidly engineered, and sensible a German car was, but now that they are a little more advanced in life, they can afford something with a few more amenities, more power, more engineering, and frankly, more price!

02's and Bugs are 110% completely different cars, and were never competitors when they were new. Both were much loved new, and both are probably even more loved by their owners now.

I've never owned an air cooled car of any ilk, and will probably never own one, unless that 73 RSR comes my way for a great price! That being said, I enjoy Bugs, and had great fun helping Kirin with his earlier this year. He had the chance to drive my 02 on several occasions, and came away liking it. I don't blame him!

The car he bought is coming from a friend of mine who now lives in Chicago, and has been lovingly restored to near new condition. Martin wanted to see it go to a good home, and Kirin wanted a good 02. Both parties are happy, and Kirin's little German cars will look great together!

Wow, I'm tired, and just rambled on a whole bunch. Time for bed.
