Bruce Tweddle and I headed out to Mission Saturday afternoon. Heres a clip

That VR6 besides me sounded great with a custom exhaust.  I still have minor adjustments but otherwise I had a great time. I didn't even touch my jets all day.

I did that run with full street trim. So basically I had a complete interior, bumpers all steel goin down the track.  I overfilled my tank and had a 1/2 tank of gas too.

Maybe I'll gut my car and pull all my seats out and add T-bars next time and see if I can shave .2-.3 off my time. I think I'll call it a year with my expensive habit of breaking parts.

I'm getting married in 6mths so I dont feel like buying anymore $$$ VW hipo parts. I think Amy will give me sh!! since we just bought a 1 yr old house in Vancouver.  If you see me begging for money on the street throw a quarter at me please

As for tuning my car pulled past 8000rpms no problems. I think I'll play with my airjets some more but I'll try tuning some more next year with a techedge wideband a/f meter.

Allan,
Next spring lets go out to Mission and run a head to head night. You pull your interior and bumpers to even the weight advantage i have i'll even bring some extra weight to make sure its even. We can weigh the cars there and then go at it, try and get 3-4 runs and see how close we are? I know you have a bigger motor, venturies, heads and crank but it could be close. I only have 9.2:1  and wanted 10;1 to work better with the 86c, maybe if i get off my ass i will bump it up close to yours.

This next year will see some fast cars out, we have a few customers building big motors,Shane, Matt,James,bkoolb3 and others.

Brad ran a 12.70 last year with the k8 40 venturies and a bad clutch, he's looking to better that in the spring with the new 86c

Lanny is stepping up in the cam department, also a larger set of intake valves.

Maybe we can have a spring drag day?sometime in May?

Congats Allan on a hard charging 12 second pass!

Hey Geoff,

I'm looking forward to take my car to the track again. I'm done for the year though.  But the one thing I hate is driving 1hr on the highway to the Mission with a 1.22 4th and 4.12 r/p.  Thats all i need is to re do my lifter bores again amongst other wear and tear.

Recently my brother and I just bought a low km full size Bronco w/ 351 ci engine. Hopefully after house payments and my wedding I'll have enought money to buy a tandum car trailer. Just watch the Bronco breakdown before my 65.

Brad's car should rip hard since he's alot lighter with his aluminum trick beam!! It'll be nice to see alot of hardcore acvw's kicking ass next year at the track.  Maybe if I go on a diet I'll improve on my times for next year.

Here is what i would like to get everyone to do, we can call it the \"Real street VW spring shoot out\".
We get everyone who wants to race in this class  to meet at one location central to everyone. We all fill up with gas from the same station (no prope or additives allowed) we then all DRIVE the hour to the track where we weigh the cars and even out any advantage (or not depending on what everyone wants) and head to the stageing lanes.

This would be a N/A challange so no power adders (turbo's or NOS) we could have a different class for that? Maybe a small cc class also? Just ideas, if anyone has any more input lets here it.

I think it would be cool to have a bunch of 12. sec VW's drive out to the track and pull some good times.

I'll be talking the talk, but this time I will back it up!
I'm with you on that idea Geoff. All drive out together, then kick some V8 ass. But for the weight even-out It would be hard for small cc engines (like mine) to compete, I need the weight advantage. And Im sure there arent many non stroker engines that are built for the track. I'd have no problem running with the \"big\" boys.
The meet should be at airspeed, central for everyone, when in spring are you thinking? May?

James, yes i was thinking sometime in May. We will have to wait and see what dates Mission sets for the 2004 season.

If we do it on a test n tune day we then have all day to make runs and you some have made 20+ runs in a day. I think it costs between 50-60ea for a test n tune day but then we can make a whole day event of it.
If it's a friday night it is always a gamle to get in and a rush to be there before the gate opens.

So as it stands here are some ideas for the rules.

1) we all meet at Airspeed or another location that everyone can agree on.

2) we all fill our cars at one Chevron and only run pump gas.

3) everyone drives their cars to the track, 1/2 way on the highway and the other 1/2 the back roads in start and stop conditions.

4) everyone weighs in so there are no suprises, If you want to make weights even to race a friend even better. But like James said people with a 82 or 84 crank have a power advantage over the smaller motors.

If you want a trailor there to tow you home, have a friend bring one but they should be able to drive home under  their own power.

If we have enough people who want to do this we can make a few classes, maybe a  stroker and non stroker class?

Post your ideas in the events and gatherings section, i have just moved a copy of this post there.
Thanks.

Sounds like we have enough for a 2000lb minimum class.  Brian would make 4 of us with his Ghia.

If we can get enough people there is ne reason why we cant have a 1500-1900lb and 1901 up class or something close to this.

I dont see why the watercooled VW'swouldn't be allowed in their weight class,What do you guys think?
