Hey all, I just built up a 1914 for the westie but recently had many carbs issues but since that has been resolved I've noticed a small loss in power but it still runs strong.It also has quite a clack like loose valvetrain, I am going to readjust to see if that cures it but From previous experience with the Scat lifter problem and such any one have some input. Solid rocker shaft kit ? What cam and lifters (followers)?

If you have to adjust that particular valve alot compared to other rocker adjustments then suspect something wrong. Visually look to see that roughly all adjustment screws are all turned in the same amount. Check also the rocker sideplay. TOO much will make a clatter also.

Drive it a little more and then see if the valve lash changes more again. If thats the case its time to get the dial indicator and check to see that the valve lift is the same on all 4 cylinders.

Do an oil change and observe the color/condition of the oil. Quick and easy check.

I never noticed much change in the valve adjustments as you are setting on the base circle which doesn't seem to wear much right away. Just eyeball total lift if you can't get a dial indicator on it. Every rocker should appear to move the same amount when you look down the row. Sure hope it's something else! wayne

the cam is a scat c35 with solid rockers. I will be changing the oil tommorrow and adjusting the valves. Ill have to keep a close eye on it

If you're getting tons of lash all of a sudden your pushrod tips are grinding away.
