Cruise To The Classic 2005
« on: October 10, 2004, 06:03:47 PM »
DGLVK had our meeting this morning.  Here is what we have basically hammered out for an itinerary.
Day 1 Sunday June 5th leave Airspeed 9 am travel to Cottage Grove Oregon (outside of Eugene)
Day 2 Monday June 6th leave Cottage Grove travel to Woodland CA (just before Sacramento)
Day 3 Tuesday June 7th leave Woodland travel to Irvine CA
each day has a travel time of approx. 6 Hrs and 45 mins, so stopping for lunch and breaks is an 8 hr day
WEDNESDAY DISNEYLAND!!!!
Lunches will be BBQ'ing everyones pot luck, etc...  Hotels will cost roughly $80 Cdn/night, those of you who are using motorhomes or campers we have made sure that the motels are close to WalMarts.

As soon as we get an estimated amount of people we will call ahead for room discounts and reservations.

that sounds like a solid plan so far.
unfourtanatly holiday plans this morning barred me from making it,but am still interested in the trip.
i think if we were to go we would drive down as a group then probably head to vegas for a few days after the classic and then head her home

thanks for the update

At our last club meeting we  were hammering out the details about the cruise, When we realized that our show was the following Friday after the show, WE then figured out that it would not give us enough time to get back and do any final details on the show.

So we have decided not to cruise down this year. However we have planned to fly. We are currently looking at getting discount rates for a group. Hotel and airfare. If you are interested in joining us please let us know. The more people the better deal we may get. Sorry about this everyone.

We just figured that we wanted to put out an even better show this year and hopefully one year it will be 2 GREAT events in Vancouver.

Cheers
Shane

I keep hearing these Canadian shows are a blast and have wanted to go to some. Now that I am only a few hours from the border, it would definitely benefit me to go. So, I am gonna ask about what you all have for plans and what other shows are up there. I wanted to hit the Great Canadian VW show the last two years but truck broke.

Thanks.

great canadian vw show/weekend is a blast. lots of really nice cars and lots of very cool people. make sure you make it up for the whole weekend. friday evening drag racing at mission raceway (this year should have ALOT of quick vw's running 12's or better), saturday usually consists of an airspeed show & shine/breaky and cruising and bench racing, and sunday is the big show & swap. definately worth making it up for all 3 days.

aswell, i'm sure the westcoast showdown will be a great event with a huge turnout.

hope to see you up here this summer. B)

i will be making the classic this year but not the drive, neither my wife or i can escape for the needed days.so we will be flying in for the weekend.i am just starting to get reservations ect.i just called the crown plaza(host hotel) they only have 8 rooms left for the classic rate (more rooms available just not at the given vw rate)
it costs nothing to hold the room for yourself just a credit card and can be cancelled at anytime (24hrs notice i think)
so i figured i would just throw the heads up out there for anyone else interested.
crown plaza reservation # 1-888-303-1746

Need Cheap airfare to LAX for the Classic?  I work for WestJet and am in the process of working out a group rate.  I need to know who is interested.  We need at least 10 people between the BC posse, Calgary, and Edmonton.  I don't think it will be a problem.

Here is the scoop on the airfare.

Right now, there is a big seat sale going on, and the price is better than the group deal I could get.

Vancouver-LAX is only $361 including tax.  There is great flexability in the departure and arrival dates.  This round trip price is about $140 LESS than the lowest regular fare available.  This is a great deal.

If you book online, be sure to use your airmiles card and get the rewards.  www.westjet.com
