56 Sunroof And Allstate Single Wheel In Trailer?
« on: October 07, 2004, 05:58:25 PM »
Going to pick up my '54 Allstate Single wheel trailer this weekend, but also need to pick up the '56 sunroof project I won on ebay. Do you guys think they would both fit in my trailer? Here's the link with pics and specs for my trailer: CLICK ME The front and rear gates remove and fold down flat to make 12 feet of space and width with sides attached is 54\". All fenders are off the '56 and front beam is off too. I measure width of my '55 and outside width at rear wheels is 52\"
If it won't work I'll need to pick up the '56 at a later date. By the way, my tow vehicle only has a class 1 hitch.
If I do it all this weekend, it will make for a 1000 mile roadtrip.

well, space probably is not an issue but will you be within weight ranges? I would be more worried about that.

excellent point.

the payload on that trailer is 1592lbs and the weight of the 56 will probably exceed that.

i'd take as much as possible off the car (doors, hood, lid, etc) and put it in the tow vehicle. you're covering alot of miles so go slow and make plenty of safety checks.

good luck and god speed.

I think I may have to forget about the '56 then. Just found out the W decklid is missing from it.Who knows what else is missing. Guy says he'll deduct $25 from the price. I should probably be concentrating on restoring my '55 first anyway. Too many temping deals....not enough brains
