Looking For Pro Stock Style Rear Engine Cover
« on: September 19, 2004, 01:23:57 PM »
Hey ppl long time no talk :)

Im on the hunt for a pro stock style rear decklid/drag wing combo...

i wish i had a good pic of what im looking for..but i will do my best to describe it..

basicly its what you see on the rear end of the not so stock looking drag bugs..it replaces the rear apron and deck lid..and the top of the engine cover acts as a \"drag wing\"

they usually have flap type vents cut into them on the rear facing part of the cover..i think most are made out of aluminum. they look like they are a 1 peice kinda deal and if you remove it from the car your left with a open engine bay and no apron...

i have looked at ron lummus racing and air cooled.net and a few other web pages...but no luck..i KNOW someone sells these things...lots of racers have em..and many of them look exactly the same..so..

if anyone on the list here can help me out..that would be awesome..i could get my engine out of the rain and start installing the intercooler.

thanx
Cale

cale, good to see ya postin' again man! having troubles fitting that bad-ass engine in the bay again?  ;)

From Hot VWs: \"...a trick custom decklid and rear wing fabricated by Shull. Six slots have been cut into the lid to facilitate improved cooling and to allow onlookers to sneek a peek inside the engine bay while the lid is latched.\"

the mag was referring to Kevin Shull Racing. South Carolina's a long ways away, but here's his site CLICK. sounds like the style of decklid you're looking for is usually fabbed. got any welder friends who owe you a few favours? :D
Sometimes I get the feeling the whole world is against me, but deep down I know that's not true. Some smaller countries are neutral.
