i appologize, i had posted the wrong pictures. bob pm'd me and told me of my mistake. the pics are now of bobs car. even nicer than the other car. a true beauty, and peice of volkswagen and canadian history. thanks bob, for taking such good care of the car and taking pride in your ownership.

The car was the first car sold in Canada by Speedway motors in Victoria on Vancouver Island. The owner sold it to his aunt who used it as a summer car until her death and then it was given back to the dealership and kept in the show room for the next twenty+ years. When I purchased the car it had a total of 21,000 original miles and all rubber including tires were never replaced. The Canadian Goverment put a Hold on the car at the border, claiming National treasure. VW of North America helped me obtain the necessary release under condition that they have the first opportunity to purchase the car when I sell it. The VW museum does not have a '53 oval and wanted this particular car. They had previously tried to purchase it from the dealer several times but to no avail. If you want to see the car you can go to the Gallery. Put my name \"Sowersby \" in the search box and several pictures should come up. Besides its \"history\" it has won the Classic twice,both Solvang and Kelly Park shows and numerous concours events. I don't plan on selling it but VW will have the first shot.
