I know of one. Not sure if it's a real Manx but it sure as hell looks like one.
I know it's not one of the cheesy-looking ones though.
No motor, but it's on an IRS and I believe it's registered.
PM me next week. I'll talk to the owner on the weekend and see if he's willing to part with it.
Oh, it's in Surrey as well.

Cheers...
Mike
Thanks, ya im interested. Any idea as to where in Surrey?

I know exactly where it is but the problem is the owner doesn't like people knowing where he lives. I'll be chatting with him some time on the weekend so I'll run it by him and see if I can arrange a time for you to have a look at it.
I'm sure if I mention money he'll be a little more understanding.

If I forget by next week (which I probably will) drop me a line and remind me.

Cheers!

You bet HansK,... it's about the only think that will keep me sane during the long winter months. It's a hoot to race, and only increrases my driving skill.

I ran my 72 super beetle with a really tired 2180 , not the fastest car out there but could have pulled a tree out of the ground if I wanted to .   It  could take allmost anything out of the corners . Racing  a rear engine car on ice is an art I allmost mastered .   There was two classes -unlimited with studs or unlimited on ruber(very scary)   Friends of mine would take an old stock rabit and blow away the stock hondas . Then the honda boys would spend big bucks on their motors and that was the end of that.  Body panels sure take beating in that sport .  What class you run Trevor ?

Hey Marty , Martin was the one who got us into ice racing then they all quit and I stayed in it for a few more years . Just talked to Martin today , he's doing good .

I get my bus back from the paint man this weekend, i'm gonna put in back together, slap an interior in and get it ready for school. trade in my ford tempo so i can drive my bus to grade 12 and run those honda civics off the road.

We are running 2L under on studs. The cars for the most part are suppose to be stock, but there is some room for suspension upgrades and such. We used to have an unlimited class years back, but it kinda killed the scene here for awhile cause there were only a few guys that could afford to sink that much coin into an ice car. That class will come back  eventually though I hope... as I have plans for a highly modifed iceracer in the future.

Yeah,...lets see some pics of your Beetle iceracer!  There used to be a guy out here that had one with a small 2L and a turbo,...kicked everyones ass! B)

Ya unlimited was bad enough when you could only run 20 studs per foot  , limited the traction a lot .  then they changed it to something like 30 or more or you could build your own tires with bolts or something. then the guys with power ($$$$)  got really fast .  I beleive a beetle is the ultimate ice racer  with the right driver .

We all build are own tires on the same pattern. 9 bolts per foot. We experimented with a new type of bolt last season, and it worked awesome. They last way longer, and don't get as many flats like the old ones.
You got a scanner?,...then we can all see the iceracing pics. :D

I think a beetle makes an excellant racer also, butI would like to try a 914 for the mod class.
