LF: Lots of parts for early Single Cab (1956)
« on: June 25, 2018, 02:01:15 PM »
Going to need a LOT of pieces to put together this old truck. I live in North Van and willing to travel

List in no particular order...
Wheels: 2 “crows feet” 15 inch stock steelies (5x205 bolt pattern)
Body panels: basically everything from the rockers down. Outriggers, doglegs, chassis braces, jack points, valances, rear corners, heater tube, A/B/C/D pillars etc... maybe you have some left over that weren’t needed?
Steering wheel: 2 spoke black
Tires: stock size bias ply, preferably with white walls
Brakes: dual circuit master with reservoir, wheel cylinders, brake lines, wheel bearings, e-brake cables
Suspension: Dropped spindles, front and rear shocks
Rubber and seals: door frame and window rubber, rear window, engine lid, treasure chest, shifter boot, e-brake boot, torsion arm seals, axle boots etc...
Lighting: tail lights (stock small round), bullet signal lenses, headlight rings with seals.

Left over items from a project let me know! Most of this stuff can be bought new but will give this a shot first

Thanks in advance!

Perrrrhaps...is that not a good combo? I want sidewalls with a decent height, white walls, and responsive steering. Maybe “bias ply look” radials?

If you run dropped spindles and stock bias ply tires you may run into issues with fitment.. generally you get 2.5 inch drop on spindles. It may be more straightforward to run radial whitewalls with a lower sidewall, if you can get the correct size or use the whitewall caps on 135s up front.

Hi,
crowsfeet - 2 on fb right now $75
Bodypanels - Concept1 or str8 from Gerson, go green is best
steering wheel - thesamba.com
Brakes - buy new dont mess around with used parts(i have a master with reservior fs its new $100)
Dropped Spindles - take yours off, ship to Olympia WA Campingbox did mine and he is fast
Most Seals buy new, engine lid(gerson as you wont find one) and treasure door maybe thesamba
Rear lights - splitpartsunlimited takes about 3-4 months to get $600
Good Luck!

Sounds good thanks for the advice!

Hi,
crowsfeet - 2 on fb right now $75 - I’m not on Facebook could you post a link or what group to search for?
Bodypanels - Concept1 or str8 from Gerson, go green is best - those were the options I’m thinking, Concept 1 doesn’t have all the parts I need so may have to go direct to save on shipping twice. Not looking for used panels except maybe dove blue doors, contemplatating a patina finished product
steering wheel - thesamba.com - Cool will have a look
Brakes - buy new dont mess around with used parts(i have a master with reservior fs its new $100) - Where are you located? Sound like a good deal. I think the brakes were done not long before  being parked years ago so the drums are perfect just need wheel cylinders and brake lines
Dropped Spindles - take yours off, ship to Olympia WA Campingbox did mine and he is fast - Good to know thanks for the tip
Most Seals buy new, engine lid(gerson as you wont find one) and treasure door maybe thesamba - Is CIP1 ok?
Rear lights - splitpartsunlimited takes about 3-4 months to get $600 - How about the ones on CIP1? They’re $257 CAD for a pair
Good Luck!

There is a guy selling a whole 56 single cab. It is located in Mill Bay. It looks complete but is needing a lot of love. Has crows feet etc. The guy was asking 1000.00 for the whole thing. But butter him up and go and get it. His number is 250-858-. Good luck. His name is Julian and he is NOT interested in parting it out!!

Ok no worries. That’s not priority #1 right now. Will keep an eye out.
I’ll take the master Cylinder, will send you a PM. Do you keep your 56 at home?

There is a guy selling a whole 56 single cab. It is located in Mill Bay. It looks complete but is needing a lot of love. Has crows feet etc. The guy was asking 1000.00 for the whole thing. I spoke with him and unfortunately he sounds like an ass. But butter him up and go and get it. His number is 250-858-8371. Good luck. His name is Julian and he is NOT interested in parting it out!!

Holy what a phone call. “Ok honestly I don’t wanna sound like I know EVERYTHING about type 2 single cabs, like I don’t wanna sound like it, but HONESTLY I KNOW EVERRRRYTHING about these...”
good start to the conversation.

Wish I had seen the ad on used Victoria before calling him so I knew what logooed meant. Huuuhge selling feature apparently. Its probably a good price for parts but too banged up and missing too much to be worth while as a project. He sounds like he only wants to sell it to someone to fix up

Oh and he might want 1500 instead. “Like honestly I think it’s worth 1500, at least 1500. So I’d like to get 1500....” mind blown. I’ll pass

Thanks for the heads up getgeoff!

Not particular about the year. I have one 58 and one 56 so far. You’re in Vic? I’m heading the island tomorrow to look at houses, as far south as Ladysmith I think. Hmmm
