Its moderated by the owner and his lil'buddies. So, no not really :P

And there was no heated discussion, there was no post made on vwdov. except James'. The other 4 of us were banned from DOV by posting on Vortex and for having a MSN discussion.

Welcome to the club! I've been banned 3 times, under 3 different user names, and also had 3 IP's banned from that moron's site. trust me when I tell you it is no great loss. He's a stupid little kid, and his day WILL come.

I was a waterpumper for the past 12 years, but I'm quickly learning that aircooled VW guys are a better crowd than they will ever be. I'll not likely own another VW of any kind, but I'll still hang around other owners.

Apparently Jason made a post on dov about why i was banned. i can't read it, dont care to cause i know its all lies. Its nice to know that he really is THAT immature :D haha

I was banned for this (coming from a mutual aquaintence, 5 min after he talked to jason)

me saying bjorn didn't get enough credit with the site
my response to his stupid Amsoil thread (i'm sorry but oil DOES NOT improve cold starts)
and me being too much like Al Canuck, which apparently threatens him and DOV.

Now theres a nice little thread on dov, apparently cause i can't view it, that trashes me by Jason. heh. I love the maturity of DOV and the glorious ethics.

woot.

Ummm it does......

off topic to this post but you'll find that for example a 10w30 synthetic will pour roughly the same in 0 degrees or 20 degrees celcius. Perhaps 20w50 would be a better example.

Get a bottle of your favourite mineral/dino oil in 20w50.  Now get a bottle of any real synthetic like Amsoil (PAO based) or Royal purple, Motul (ester based), Elf...etc etc. You'll quickly understand that synthetic pours almost the same in cold or hot ambient temperatures. So if you used 20w50 mineral oil in your engine on a cold winter day the oil will be thicker compared to a 20w50 synthetic. Get two bottles and pour them at the same time. I guarantee the synthetic bottle will empty faster in 0 degrees.

Synthetic DOES improve cold starts because the oil will not get thicker due to cold extreme weather. That is the whole purpose of multigrade oils in north american climates. Oil pours easier in the cold but retain a the viscosity of a thicker oil like 30, 40 or 50 weight when at operating temperatures. Synthetic multigrades just does a better job than multigrade mineral oil in the cold.

If you worked in a cold automotive shop like I do (winter months) you'll see this with your own eyes. It will take alot more effort to pump 20w50 out of a drum of oil in the winter than in the spring/summer/fall months.

If your talking about fuel enrichment on cold starts this is a totally different topic but if your talking about oil thickness, synthetic will help cranking speeds of a cold engine in the cold compared to dino oil.

These are facts that you can experiment yourself. Many mechanics that have full knoweledge of sythetic oils will also agree.

last i checked it was start up was mechanical. the oil doesn't flow until something mechanical takes it through the engine. Oil viscosity and viscosity index relate to how the oil flows and the fluidity at different temperatures. I never said it didn't flow better at lower temps, nor did i say it didn't maintain a film. Oil doesn't flow by itself ;) You can start an engine without oil, however cannot run an engine for periods of time without oil.

Oh and I'm a professional mechanic, both automotive and commercial/heavy duty. :)

anyways i'm not having this conversation again. the point was, it was my trained technical advice that got me banned by a kid that knows very little about mechanics of a vehicle.

this forum has no where near the traffic that VWDOV has, plus the air cooled community is a lot smaller than the watercooled here in vancouver.  hence the tougher moderating.  one thing \"waterpumpers\" don't realy do is flame the other \"aircooled\" crowd.  in fact in a lot of their posts for get together, a lot of members actualy put shout outs to get aircoolers to come out.  don;t get me wrong, this forum is great, but it mostly consists of a few people bantering back and forth.

I'm sorry but i really can't make sense of hellgti's post.

theres a long list of people banned for no reason on dov. the thread that jason made about me, well its half true and the events happened AFTER i was banned. so i dont really know how that site is better. vortex is still key for tech info, same as personal sites. dov as a whole is a big tangs corner.

anyways.... hi i'm Jaime, i drive a modded 84 rabbit gti. yup water cooled.

I suspect it's only a matter of time until Nate18T sticks his ugly mug into this thread! He's always been Jason's little bitch, and loves to sign up to other forums, just to flame people.

Anyway, at least I KNOW why I was banned from the DOV. As for the HUGE list of other people, I can only speculate.

Hellgti's post????

Haha thanks, i'm keeping it clean :)

I made this, as a invite to some new forums we are making. bcvwdrivers start    Its a basis to get the forums www.bcwvdrivers.ca started and once they are up and running, if no one wants to continue using them, its easy to delete  :D

Okay, its really cause i can't even post in the canada forum of vwvortex anymore cause Jason is a mod and deletes ALL my posts. nice eh. uhg. THATS annoying heh.

Feel free to join and have fun :)
