From Van to Kamloops - Transport is arranged Thanks
« on: June 30, 2015, 11:16:59 AM »
I'm hoping someone might be going from Vancouver to Kamloops that has some room to bring my Transaxle and a few loose parts with them. As the mechanic  that is rebuilding my Trany is there. PM me if you can help a case of beer, gift certificate or better a Airspeed t-shirt is in the deal. :-) lol Ideally somewhere mid July or later. As then I should have all the repair parts scratched together.

Thanks to anyone who could help.

Cheers Rene

I'll be headed to Kamloops in July. I have a old merc wagon, but not sure I can fit a trans in the back.. is a complete unit or parts? Let me know.

It's a complete transaxle will be without axles. Just a box of new replacement parts to go with it if you have room for both. I'll see if I can get you some measurements and a weight.

Thanks in advance if it would work out. The Transaxle is at Geoff's shop in north Van.

Pick up isn't a problem I drive through N/ Van to work every day.

I have a couple trans here I can measure to see if it will fit. Is it a box of parts? how big for that?

Thanks Trevor

Yes a small box of parts bearings syncros and a shift fork. They should arrive at Geoffs end of next week sometime. I hope but if the parts don't work out then I can have my Dad mail them up.

The trany is the big item

When are you planning to go to Kamloops? so I can try to make sure that this window of opportunity works with the parts that are On there way too?

Cheers Rene

Weight I found its about 100lbs size is a bit longer than the stock beetle transfer 2-3 inches or so

I don't have a firm travel date.. just want to drive up this month. Let me check the space in the back part behind the middle seats. I'll let you know. Can take the box for sure.

Hi Rene,

I am heading up there this Thursday. If Geoff has the parts I can swing by his shop today (wed) afternoon.

Can you confirm the transmission is just the case and not the shafts/drums? If so, I can grab it if Geoff has it.

Let me know.
