Garage Assistance/suggestions Please
« on: July 27, 2004, 09:42:08 AM »
Hello  everyone , im pretty new to the forum having just arrived in BC and Canada for that fact. So i reckon its time i got my self a ride which i think i may well have done if everything pans out.
However its going to need some engine work and as im presently toolless and garageless im looking for a garage to do this for me. SO anyone got recommendations of places to visit or avoid? I would prefer somewhere that specialises in aircooled vw's as from past experience this seems best, especially if unforseen problems occur.
Or does anyone here on the forum have a work from home deal going on? The cars a late model type3 if its of any help.
Failing that i guess i'll be striping it down on my balcony using what i can find in the cutlery draw!!
I would appreciate any feed back

Cheers

Dott

Welcome!
There are lots of VW shops in BC. We need to know what neighbourhood you live in.

Thanks for the welcome.
I live in East Van around commercial drive area, However i dont mind having to travel as i know that nearest isnt always bestest(is that a word?) It seems that a  bunch of  car related stuff seems to be out in the langly delta areas.
As for what do i need doing? I reckon it might be a case of spliting the case and then seeing whats wrong. To be honest i havent bought the car yet and i reckon i would be taking a gamble , but im trying to look at it from a worst case scenario. I've had a fair bit of experience with the top end stuff but as im here a new and without any tools yet or a place to store the care off the road, i figured maybe getting someone else to the initial work to get it on the road...

cheers

...my past experience i have used shops that do some of  the race and show carsie Terrys beetle services in London and Vintage veedubs in Sydney Australia . I found that these guys apart from knowing their stuff inside and out to be a great inspiration, after all every car is a project, right?
