for all of you out there who drive the new beetles, i send out sincere apologies and a heaping dollop of VW love!

i used to think the cars were lame and the owners even worse; but after today, i stand corrected. i'm sorry.
buggy made a helluva noise heading home on 176th this afternoon, and after i pulled over and realized what the problem was -- and that i had *no* tools in the car to fix it as well as no cellphone or my bcaa card on me -- i watched 10 minutes worth of traffic drive by without a single person stopping. no one, that is, until a lady in a navy blue new beetle pulled over and asked if i was okay. i asked if she had a cellphone i could borrow, and she pulled the car over and offered it to me straight away. she asked if i had bcaa, but because i didn't have my card with me i didn't know the number to dial. we then both stood there on the side of the road rifling through our wallets to find either of our cards. apparently hers was MIA as well, and we sat there and chuckled about losing those damn cards at the wrong time. she ended up phoning her husband at home, who looked up the number in the phonebook for me so i could call for help.
after i thanked her for stopping, ya know what she said? \"I couldn't just drive by... Us beetles have to stick together!\"
i doubt she'll ever read this, but BIIIIIIIIIIG thanks to the new beetle lady. and to all new beetle owners, i'll definitely give y'all the benefit of the doubt in future!
