Not driving your VW
« on: December 09, 2014, 03:06:28 PM »
Okay so since 1995 my car only gets out in the summer months . Fuel stabilizer etc do they really help ? The car never gets used and I don't want to sell it . Anyone with good or bad experience from long term storage . When I do fire it up it runs great , fast no hesitation . Not yet anyway ......?

Fuel stabilizer does help, i also put a bowl of baking powder in the car and that will absorb any moister plus deodorize !.. Plug your tail pipe so Little critters don't make a home!

Yup. I do a fresh oil change. Premium fuel with stabilizer. fill the car with bounce sheets {mice stay out / smells great in the spring}. Disconnect battery and store on maintenance charge. Best wax, cover with its' Cal-Cover,.......... then say thank you.

clean it top to bottom(dirt holds moisture). take the weight off the tires but still on the suspension. fill the tank with premixed fuel/ stabilizer(i like seafoam)and run it to fill the carbs/injectors. change the oil! dress door seals (so they dont stick).leave the windows down a crack(indoors only) avoid starting the motor unless you take up to operating temps(ya just wash down the clys and foul the oil) instead roll the motor over with the starter to build good oil pressure(monthly). of course the battery was up  because its been plugged it to a tender the whole time......rodents are my worst fear in storage
