I just wanted to get the word out in case some of you haven't heard. If you're on Facebook, you more than likely have. Since living in the Kootenays for the last (almost) 3 years, I've scoped out and have immersed myself in the VW scene. I have become the guy that most people come to when they hear about a VW for sale in the area, or if they're just sitting somewhere remote.
So, I finally decided to start a club specifically for ACVWs in the Kootenays only. We are a very new club that started just 2 weeks ago. We have a member in Kimberly, 3 in Cranbrook, one in Winlaw and myself in Castlegar. Richard and Wayne are on Airspeed, and I'm sure they'll chime in at some point. The goal is simple, we will get together when we can, help each other out, cruise and go to shows together, if we can. A show in the Kootenays would be nice, and of course anyone living in the Koots is welcome to join. If you're interested, PM me here or on FB. You can also visit and join the "Kootenay Volkswagen Society" group on FB as well. Feel free to join, even if you don't want to be a club member. We have event info, as well as other VW club news. Post pics, share, comment and network with others.
I helped plan The Bus movie event in Nelson last Wednesday, that two of us were at, and it was a huge hit! Close to 50 buses, and Damon Ristau and Dave Manning were in attendance. Also, 5 of our members were at the Cranbrook VW Show recently that fellow club member Richard planned and hosted. Another one of our members won first place too. So far, we are small, but very involved. Thanks for looking, have a great Summer and we'll see you at the GCVWS!
Cheers, Darren.
