harley mufflers
« on: April 29, 2014, 08:35:09 PM »
Anyone ever try harley mufflers on type1? I just got a set from a 1340 cc police special. 1 1/2 inlets 26" long. Gonna try mounting them pointing sideways across the back of the car off of the header.

a guy at work ran some bike mufflers on 1776 bus, and he ran them pointing out each side. personally, I didn't think the mufflers did the engine justice sound wise. the engine just didn't have that rasp like it should, and it really wasn't all that quiet either. my 2 cents...

How big is your engine?

I tried a Honda bike muffler a few years ago.  It choked off 30mph from the car's top speed.  I found out later that the bike used two mufflers!

Then I tried a Yamaha muffler.  This time it was a single muffler type bike.  Full power was restored, but it was too loud for my liking.

Im gonna try 2 stock 1340 cc harleymufflers which are chrome 1 1/2 id by 26. They are straight through glasspacks. 2" tubing from header to mufflers teed to left and right. 2" exhaust tubing fits over the muffler inlets

Its a 1904 but I was using a 2" single turbo muffler so 2 1.5 mufflers should be ok??

a couple of passes at the drag strip will tell you how much power they make or take compared to whatever else you have. I discovered that my 1641 is a full second and 3 mph slower in the1/8th with a mondo muffler than an open stinger.

as for the noise they make, I guess that's personal. my self, I prefer bugpack  dual street tubes without baffles. but the noise Nazis say "nein! verboten!"

stupid noise bylaws
