So the Kombi video inspired me to try and track down my old bus.
Back when I was 19 I went up country and rescued a '65 Kombi from the family fishing lodge. Think I paid $300 for it. It was being used as a chicken coup but was surprisingly solid. Got it home and cleaned the chicken shit out and drove it for a while. Not really knowing what I had back in the day I sold it for $600 about 15years ago with full length roof rack. Wouldn't mind seeing if it is still around.
1965 Dove blue Kombi
Factory primer grey interior. No rear seats. I assume it was ordered that way.
Had logo's on the front and on the doors that said "Chimney Lake Lodge"
The drivers side long panel was pretty beat up form fire wood being tossed in it.
Funny story. After I sold it my buddy/roommate at the time came home complaining about traffic coming off the New West end of the Pattulla bridge. As he came up the hill it was my old bus holding up traffic. Moving, but very slowly. Three hours later I was driving the same route and spotted it again coming up the same hill. We joked for a few years about it taking three hours for the old beater to climb that hill.
Anyhow, anyone know if it is still around. Just looking for sentimental sake.
