So who is doing what over the winter?
« on: November 19, 2013, 08:40:18 PM »
Just thought I would try and kick start some good posting!

I know we're in the land of "secret" builds but if anyone wants to fill us in on their plans, goals, dreams for your cars, new wheels? Let's hear it! An oil change sure! Anyone starting a roof chop? Gasser even common! Don't be shy!

I for one have no car plans, still just collecting parts, but that's fun for me, also I'm sure I'll be helping out friends with their projects as I know of at least two going on this winter!!

Going through my sons (first car) 71 squareback to see road duty for the first time in 12 years. Mostly fuel system changes (has bastard progressive Weber mounted in the middle of the parcel tray ???). Trying to go with solex duals and an auto trans. Shooting for road trials mid Dec. - wish me luck. Then its back to my usual Land Cruiser projects.

I've been hoping and waiting on a call back from a possible local one owner 62 ragtop beetle!

Other than that, collecting parts on the side for that perfect gem!

  • Bigger motor
    Hargett Shifter
    Front Coilovers
    Various Wheel / Tire setups
    Hydraulic Handbrake
Various Maintenance / part replacement items that need to be done.

I'd love to get to the brake options I have ideas for, but considering I don't know how I'm paying for the above list...

Working on getting my 72 bus back on the road this summer. The tranny and engine are done. I still need to deal with some body work and going over the front end.

Aside from working on other peoples cars, I need to find the time to pull the motor in the fiat and send the heads to K-roc. Time to go faster!

I'm going to enjoy driving my 79 van over the winter - at least a couple of times a week.  Picked up a set of proper winter tires for it in case the roads are slippery, the stock air heater works great (no gas heater in this puppy) and I have a heated drivers seat as a bonus.  Just because it is winter it doesn't mean you can't enjoy your ACVW - right.

On the project side I need to finish the roof on my buggy so it can be a little more all weather capable.  Maybe a heater and defroster too!!

Josh, the Wolfsburg crest on the early cars are 1/16 lower (closer to the hood handle) yours should come down a bit, it's a long winter best start again ;)

Heading to the hover dam bug show.  Then off to the gas monkey new years party.  Follow up with a private tour of Danny's collection of cars at counts customs.  Hang out we're it's warm.  And back just in time to pick up my wicked engine for my bruce style slammed bus from Darren k.  Can't wait till next year.    Sooo.  So long suckers!
