GCVWS Scoring
« on: August 25, 2013, 06:41:19 PM »
Is there a reason you can't get a copy of your judges score sheet after the show? How can you ever improve, if you never get to see where you need improvements.

Btw great show today!

Josh, I saw that before, but how would ever know how you ranked without seeing it. Plus why is it such a big secret anyway. Once the winners are announced we should be able to collect our scores.

It's not a secret but it takes a lot of time to go thru 300 plus sheets to those who want them. The staff worked over 13 hours today by the time the awards were handed out, If someone wants to volunteer (maybe you or one of the others who would like to see them)to work a few hours at the end of next year handing out scores have at it!

Were open to it.

It's like deja vue all over again, I guess you weren't satisfied with the answers you got last year regarding the very same subject? http://www.airspeedparts.com/forums/index.php?topic=19577.0 It's still the same old story, if you are willing to personally step up and transcribe all the sheets then you can view the results and details along with all the others, otherwise live with what you get because the people who put on the show and do all the work are spent and don't have the time or energy to do it for you.

Every year the volunteers of the GCVWS pull off an awesome event and it represents a butt load of work  You_Rock_Emoticon

If you really wanted to know, you could hang around the car and talk to the judges....I could foresee a pissing match/bitch fest if scoresheets were handed out?
Having judged for the first time this year I'd have no problem if a guy got my info and pm'd me after the show to answer a couple questions on how a guy could improve his ride for next year!!

Well, I know where my Bus could improve, and will work on those points until I am happy. Oh heck, I am happy anyway, especially considering two of us came over from the Island(Nanaimo/Ladymith) and drove home with two awards which rather shocked us...thanks, it was a happy shock! :D

I agree with the potential pissing match/bitch fest comment if the judges sheets were given out, then again "freedom of information" might be a good thing, hard to say. I think the judges did a great job and should be commended for their time freely given(and that's not just the award talking :) ). If people really needed to see I would hope the score sheets would be given over with judge anonymity, that way people can't it personally. Would scanning and posting for all to see be a ton of work? Probably. But do we as a VW community really need to go there? I don't myself. Great show, great people, FUN time....thanks everyone!

I have said it before and I will say it again,  The whole event would be a thousand times easier to pull of if we just trash judging of classes all together and simply make it a huge show and shine, and just hand out a few top awards like Best Paint, Best interior, best of show. etc....

I have always wondered.....are people really brining thier cars out to win a trophy?  or to hang out for the day and have fun ?

My 2.5 cents..............

Geoff. Sure I would be interested in handing them out next year. Shouldn't be too hard. Just have the person bring up there window reg and match up the same number on a score sheet and hand it to them. I think I could handle that.

How is this deja vu? Last year I missed the judging and asked if there was a list of who won?

personally, i have had a fair amount of success in having a pro-active approach.

if you have an issue/concern/problem...identify what it is, offer a solution, be open minded to input and constructive criticism from other parties regarding your solution, come to an agreement on how to rectify the issue/concern/problem, and then (most importantly) offer to step up and volunteer your time/resources/money to put the solution plan into action!!

this approach could be very helpfull with both of the issues mentioned in this thread.

Sorry I should make myself clear, if you would like to take on the duty of working with all those who would like to see their scores etc.. Please help out the few weeks before with the pre event paperwork and judges, we start 5am on the Sunday. If you and maybe one other could be there 15 min early so we can get you set up. You can go around with the judges to each car, chat with the owner and find out of they would like their scores... We're usually done that by 3pm. After its all calculated and awards are finished you can go back to those cars and hand out the forms.

Clean up wraps up by 6pm!

Looking forward to having the help on 2014!
Geoff

Hi Geoff. No need to make it more complicated than it needs to be. Like I mentioned, we can just make an announcement during the show that if anyone wants their results they can come after all the awards have been finished, and bring the window reg and I can match it up and hand it out.
Or if people want, I can take them all, do them up on the computer and post them up here a day or two later. I can just list them by the reg number that way no names. Nice and simple and to the point! See ya in '14
