Well I finally found out why my car has been acting up - I took my neighbor for a boot today as he couldn't believe that it was fast than his wife's mouse-tang. Hit first no problem, hit second at about 6500 and I lost my clutch pedal and all I could here was rattle-rattle from the back - seems like my clutch decided it had had enough after it's 2-3hours of driving since new.....I'll see you this week Geoff for a new one....

I've ran stock german discs for years - this time I thought hey let's try an aftermarket one.....I'm putting a stock disc back in!

I think you should let the experts at Airspeed choose your clutch........

James - I ran a Art Thearan copper head disc in my last car and loved it. It's a little harsh, but man does it hook up. I ran it with a stage 2 Kennedy pressure plate. I think Airspeed has the Centerforce discs which are very close.

Well as it turns out my negligence was what cost me in the end. I thought \"hey this throw-out bearing looks damn good, why replace it with a new one\" when I installed my engine. It grenaded today, big time. It took out my pressure plate and my throw-out arm thingy in my trans. Lesson learned - you may save 35 bucks in the first place BUT it will cost you more in the long run - build it right the first time!

It wasn't the throw out bearings fault it was YOURS! LOL look close ay the PP, There is no colar. You have the PP set up to take a late throw out bearing not a early. (unless the colar fell off and im not seeing it?) This is the #1 mistake people make when instaling a new clutch.... I know I did it myself on my first bug

Switching to the guided T/O brg is a nice upgrade. I've been doing that to all my tranz. Can't tell by your tranz pix if you can do it the easy way, just drilling and tapping the cast in nubs on around 70 and up cases. There is the aftermarket sleeve thingamabob that can be used also.

On seabert I ended up modding my pressure plate to late model to fit my big throwout bearing transmission.
Worked like a charm thus far.

James you can upgrade to the late style superior TO bearing by installing an adaptor sleeve where the seal goes. This adaptor sleeve has a seal inside it, and supports the late TO bearing.
The easy way Tom described is to drill and tap the case. You can only do this to a '70 case. I can tell by the pics yours isn't.
