** I thought I'd advertise this here as well seeing that there might be someone interested in an easy waterpumper resto project **

1978 Scirocco for sale.

This (from the sciroccos I know of) could quite possibly be one of the cleanest original nearly rust free MK1 scirocco's in the PNW that has not been modified, painted, or restored.  Prove me otherwise

It has been sitting stripped of its original outside paint in a dry garage since 1999 and it sat in Sidney by the first owner from the early 1990's till 1999. It was rarely driven before that from late 1977 till the early 1990's.  This car was last driven in 1999 from Vancouver Island to the mainland.  At that time, new tires were installed on the OG wheels that had been bead blasted and clear coated, new fuel pump, tank drained, airfilter, etc..  When the second owner purchased the car it was still on the original tires!  The engine spins nicely and has excellent compression, but it does not run.  I would bet with a new battery, new gas & plugs, it would fire right up.

However, THIS IS A RESTORATION PROJECT! Not a difficult one, but still one.  Buy new window seals, drop it off at a body shop to do the paint, bring it back home, re-install everything and its ready to drive.  This would be an excellent collector vehicle for cheap insurance and period correct modifications.

BEAUTIFUL rockers, pinch welds, inner fenders, floors, front and rear aprons, bumpers, 1/4's, etc... NEVER been in an accident, no "ROT"

99.9% complete - Missing front Vw emblem and the rear Volkswagen emblem.  All of the glass, trim, interior, engine, exterior components are there.  The front windshield is even ORIGINAL VW glass in perfect shape!

Original 1.5L 4 Cylinder engine and 4 speed manual transmission.

Low low 92,400 kms since new, the exterior paint of the car was sanded down to bare metal about 13 years ago and has sat in dry storage ever since.

The dash does have some cracks, but they are fairly small.  The original 1 piece seats with built in head rests are perfect, as is the headliner, carpets, door panels, etc.. You would NOT need to restore the interior as its all original and in VERY VERY nice shape!  You'd just need to clean it all up and re-install some of it!

The only rust on the car is on the lower of the front 2 fenders (small pin holes) and some in the rain tray where the first owner had bolted down an aftermarket airhorn on some foam pads (which kept the moisture on the rain tray) and it rusted through there.  The front fenders and underside of hood were bead blasted when the wheels were done and are nice and clean for paint/bodywork prep.

PRICE:

$900 FIRM!!
