BC found Summer, and just in time for the second event in the DVKK Summer Event Series! Now that the sun is out, the rain is gone and there isn't a cloud in the sky...there is no excuse for keeping your car locked up in the garage. It wants to run with the rest of us, so make it happy! This Sunday we'll be running the Sea to Sky cruise from North Vancouver to Squamish.

Meeting Time: 10:00am - Edit: Whoops! Typo when I first posted. Correct time is 10:00am
Meeting Place: Super Store North Vancouver - Seymour Parkway and Highway #1 (333 Seymour Blvd for your GPS)

The cruise route will take us up the Sea to Sky into Squamish, where we'll stop at the Campfire Grill for lunch. The campfire grill serves a variety of slow-cooked Southern Style BBQ dishes all for about $12 or less pp. http://www.thecampfiregrill.ca/. Following Lunch the cruise will head back to Vancouver for those with other engagements, or head into the Squamish Valley for those looking to explore some more paved twisties.

If sunshine, great cars, great food and amazing roads aren't enough to whet your appetite, we've also got draw prizes for participants on the cruise! Bring your car out and you could end up going home with a DVKK T-shirt, a White Water Rafting trip for two (courtesy of The Adventure Group Whistler), Classic California Dealership Metal Plate frame (courtesy of Geoff Peterson) or a gift from Classic Car Adventures.

We'd love to get a list started so we know how many people to prepare for:

Count me in!

I'm thinking about rolling with you guys but being that this is a DVKK sponsored event I'm worried about my little 1200cc keeping up with the  fire breathers you guys drive. Any other under powered vehicles thinking of going?

You'll be a-okay with the 1200cc. The event is a cruise for all VW's, we won't be hammering up the highway at 1/4-mile trap speeds.

Here's a taste of the draw prizes we've got for the cruise. You gotta be there to have a chance to go home with one!

Well, it's been lightly raining in Squamish for the past hour, and I hear pretty grey and cloudy in Vancouver. Really hate to do it, but we're going to pull the plug on this one. We will save the giveaways for the next cruise.

Jeremy, it was all a big ruse.  To get you to go to the Superstore, two days in a row for nothing!

Ray,  I recommend a drive to North Van superstore. It's quite a nice building. All green and yellow...

Funny thing is I almost didn't make it at all today. As I pulled onto the freeway I had A quick thought "Hmmmm. Did I tighten my front wheels last night after I polished them?" Pull over and no wheel wrench in the car so probably not. Sure enough some were just hand tight. 12" cresent wrench got them tight enough to limp home and get my wheel wrench.

Weird day x2 , ended up meeting Dean / 66 ghia and going for lunch near BC palce . Opposite the Terry Fox statue , FYI they have a free parking lot . Guess the day wasn't a total loss , 57 oval & 66 ghia looking good downtown . The weird thing is there was a lot of posts for a cruz that never happened .  We all know were ready for the next one .

You all fell for the prank...the cruise wasn't supposed to be today, it's NEXT SUNDAY! :D :D

I'm terribly sorry about pulling the plug on the cruise at the last minute. The weather folks had been calling for Thunderstorms for almost a week in Squamish, and each time we got blue skies and sunshine. Last night none of my surgery-points were stiff, it was blue sky, so I figured we'd be good to go. When I woke up at 7am, though, I knew we were in trouble. If the skies didn't open up, the grey clouds were probably enough to scare lots away. Sure enough, we had an INCREDIBLE Thunderstorm up here in Squamish where you could hear the arc moving across the clouds before the big boom. A couple hours later, sunshine.

There were quite a few of us keen to go eh? Perhaps an extra week will help those folks who are still wrenching to get their cars back on the road. Lets do the Cruise Sunday July 22nd! Same details, same time.

Jeremy, for being such a great sport and showing up two days in a row, I've got one of the draw prizes set aside for you.
