Not A Good Day At All
« on: June 10, 2004, 08:53:30 AM »
Wednesday june 9th
i finaly managed to get temporary insurance on my car.
but it tended to be the worst thing i have done.

during lunch i took my car for a drive, everytime i tried to shift it would grind.
cluth was adjusted properly, but when i pulled up to a red light i started to notice smoke coming from behind my car \"F$$$$N s##T\" NOw every time i were to put my foot on the clutch it makes a loud clicking sound when i stopped for lunch just down the road i got out of the car to notice a large puddle of oil forming under the engine.

i now relize it was the flywheel that has come loose, but i still need to take out the engine and inspect for any more damage.

my prom is on saturday and the one thing i wanted to do was drive my Beetle to prom,
for the past 2 and a half years thats all i wanted, but things don't seem to be looking good.
getting the motor out and back in is the easy part but money is now definetly a problem.
all the current money i have needs to go to my tux rental. leaving me with about a dollar to my name.

if anyone has any ideas or a looner engine it would be greatly appreciated
i don't have much to offer except maybe a case of beer after my next pay check
or if someone needs a swing axle tranny from a 72 i would love to trade for a 1600dp longblock as long as it will run and get me through to prom.

thanx a ton:
                   Steve

Sorry to hear about the engine. Keep your chin up man! I don't have an engine you can use, but will offer any help you need spinning wrenches to get it going by your prom day

thank you everyone for the offers but when i got the engine out
i found my flywheel was tight and i found what appears to be a simple problem. the spring clips on my throw out bearing weren't tight so it moved around i'm hoping this is the problem and i will find out when i put the engine back in tomorrow. hopefully i can do it between 3-4:30 stupid school
then work grr i should have booked the entire weekend off. but with problem i can't afford too. i could still take the 1600 sp of your hands if you want but i have to transportation anywhere hmm i still have to find a way to work... crap

but thanks again to everyone for all the help or advice i would have written this a bit earlier but i was pulled away from my car to go and pick-up my tux.

i still just hope the clicking and grinding was just because of my throwout bearing but i'll know either tomorrow or saturday morning wether it's still there and if it is i'll be driving my parents SUV RICE ROCKET :(

but i'm just hoping it dosn't come to that

thanx once more Steve

Well I will give you one more shot! This is my aircare motor so if you still need to borrow it just tell me and I will pull it out tomorrow morn, If not I will leave it in!
Cheers and good luck at your prom!!

Make sure and see if the pressure plate has uneven plates, Very common when the throwout goes bad.  If it does it is pooched!

Also may be a throw out bearing pressure plate incompatability so make sure you have the proper set up before you do it again. Take a pic and post it here so some one can tell you.  One of the bearing one of the pressure plate. Might be a good idea.

well i would post some pictures if i had a digital camera that was compatable with my advanced computer
the spring clips on the throw-out bearing were really loose and allowed the bearing to move a fair bit
i have an hour and a half to try and get thew engine back in tonight after school and if unsecussful tomorrow morning at 9 am till whenever. i hope everything works out because i don't wanna drive rice to my prom,
i'd rather drive my rusty VW with a $1200.00 sterio :) i will write again tomorrow around noon and tell you all how things are going. thanks for the support
oh steveo my first born has already been accounted for sorry..

have a good weekend everyone
