Key Cutting
« on: June 04, 2004, 08:41:48 AM »
Ok stupid question...can I have my 65 beetle key cut at the local key cutters?

Stupid bf stole my car keys this morning and took off to Campbell River, and I was supposed to be coming home to Vancouver. Hopefully he will be back in time but this taught me a lesson...I NEED ANOTHER KEY!

Or does anyone know where I can get a key blank? I seem to remember with my last car I had to buy a key blank then have it cut. Geoff do you sell any?

thanks.

small specialty key cutting places (ie. not canadian tire) might have a blank. the emphasis is on might, however...

your best bet is to get a blank ahead of time. i'm not sure if they've restocked, but i know i managed to scrounge up the last set of blanks from CIP a while back. good luck.
Sometimes I get the feeling the whole world is against me, but deep down I know that's not true. Some smaller countries are neutral.

Many key shops carry the key blanks and can cut it for you. Best bet is bring the door handle in with you (if the ignition and door use the same key)
Last time i had it done it was about $20.00 There is a dshop near us called A-scott  they are a lock smith and they have almost all key codes on the comp, just tell them the code on your door handle and they will cut one.
