Get in contact with steveo_32.  He has some manifolds.

The heat riser passage is relatively easy to clean out when the manifold if off the engine.  If you have access to an oxy/acc torch you can direct the flame into one end of the passage and as it gets hot increase the oxygen.  It can be quite dramatic so do it outside and wear the appropriate protective equipment.  A more detailed explanation can be found on the Samba.

The other way is to use a variety of wires with a reversible drill.  It works quite well and takes a little longer.  I did the heat riser on my 73 standard (muffler off but with manifold installed) a couple of years ago and it is still fine.  Some folks will drill a hole at the elbow of the heat riser so there is a relatively straight shot for a wire under the center area.  You will need to weld it up after or install a bung/plug for future access.  Properly done a cleaning should last a long time.

I should have also said to use a variable speed drill.  I like braided wire as well as it tends to fray on the end and help with the cleaning.  It won't break off as easy as a solid wire.  Figure out where the blockage is, tap a little with a hammer, more drill etc.  Even a little heat from a propane torch, if that is all you have,  and applied to the heat riser near the blockage will help.  Heat, tap and slow speed on the drill with the wire. Access to an air supply is nice as well to gauge how well the air is flowing.

To get the wire out you will likely need to drill a hole in the heat riser away from the end to grab on to the wire with needle nose pliers or an awl - something sharp so as to be able to grab onto the wire and hopefully dislodge it.  Hopefully you have access to a mig welder or something similar to plug up the hole when done.

Slow and easy will bring success.
