be safe...be responsible...

rant...

i know most of the members and their families here on the asf and i know that you are all safe, responsible and intelligent people and i admire those traits in all of you...but after having my car destroyed last night by what appears to be vandalism/arson (vpd has the car for forensic analysis/photos)...i cant help but be a little pissed and i need to vent.

please be safe and responsible. at all times & especially during the holidays. know your neighbors and support positive and safe functions in your community. if you see someone doing something suspicious report them or approach them and let them know that what they're doing is wrong and that the authorities have been notified.

it's tough losing our car, but i am most thankfull that no-one was injured and that there was no other damage to anything around our car. it hits even harder when you see peoples homes being damaged...not cool...

again, i know all of us here allready do this...but let's really keep making a conscious effort to be pro-active in keeping our communities safe so that our children, our neighbors children, and the generations that follow can enjoy this wonderfull world the way it's supposed to be enjoyed!!

thanks and cheers to you all!

end of rant.

Unfortunately Silas, you and many others are victims of the current culture where many people feel that they need not be accountable for their actions.

Coupled with a very liberal attitude towards crime, people feel that it is ok to misbehave, as there is little chance that they will be prosecuted.

Most of us do not want to get involved, because we fear the unknown...we do not want to be attacked if we catch these vermin misbehaving.

A good example of this is what happened on the evening of June 15.  Despite the overwhelming video evidence, we still are not able to bring these people to justice in a timely fashion.  And I have no faith in a court system that seems to not be able to have punishments fit the crime.

We all as a society, are to blame.  Because we chose to put up with it.

Silas, Sorry to hear about your car. Realy hope it wasnt the 65. Reguardless of which vehicle, it still blows.
We have had a problem in my neighbor hood of theifs for sometime. Almost everyone on my street has either had their vehicle stolen, attemped to steel or broken into over about a year and half span. Lots of stolen cars dumped here as well. Cops finally caught them after my neighbor left his walet in his van when they stole it. The theifs tried to use his debit card a a few locall ATMs and they got clear pics of them. I am guessing it took a few months for them to be prossesed through the system and then served their six months because eight months later its starting all over again. Nice system we have here.
All I can hope is that we do a good job of raising my kids to know the differance between right and wrong and respect for others.

Sorry to here this Silas. It truly amazes me at how uncaring and destructive people can be these days. It seems like things are getting worse every day. It's even getting into the small towns now. Hope everything works out.

^^i agree on all accounts. and like jord and steve (blarneyman) have confirmed...it is unfortunately all around us...regardless of where we live. but it wont keep all us good folks from keepin' on!! ;)

ftr...my 64 bug is safe and secure in the garage. it was our trusty, built like a brick s#!thouse, workhorse, winter daily driver jetta that got torched. but like jord said...it still blows!
