Buy yourself a one-way airline ticket.  That's how I would do it.

Me too - unless it was a very reputable seller that has been around the community for awhile.

ask if the car or van will be at the classic mabey someone give give you a better idea if it's worth the flight?
one way to california is about 160.00 pretty cheap when you think about it

when I sold my bus, the guy mailed me check.  I waited for it to clear and sent him the van.  But he was from Nova Scotia......i think Canadians are somewhat trustworthy.  if your realy worried about getting scammed, you'd best do the transaction in person!!

hey man, no offense, but i think you rattled your head in that little accident of yours.

i hate to break it to you, but there are scammers and untrustworthy people everywhere in the world. it doesnt matter if it's the guy at the bar in paddy o'sullivans oceanside pub in newfoundland or the guy filling up his truck at the gas bar in hicksville, usa. (and i dont know if the pub exists, but hicksville is real. i think billy joel is from there).

i just think w/ a statement like that you're waiting to get taken. you have to be wary of everyone, no matter where they're from.

When I sold my car (58) to a guy in California..
He sent me half the money as a down payment and then when Geoff delivered it he gave Geoff Cash for the other half. Everything went smooth he was happy and so was I.... However this car was as nice as they come original and I had no fear that he would like it...

I bought a Rail Down south and sent him all the money and then went down and picked it up... We chatted over the phone alot. I got a good vibe from him. Everyone thought I was nuts... But sometimes you just gotta believe,,,, There are still good people in this world...

Be very carefull about buying a vehicle without seeing it in person. I have had the personal experience of 3 \"one way trips\" to So-cal and came home empty each time. Every person's interpretation of \"mint,rust free and never been hit\" is VERY different. Get lots of pictures of the preticulars of what you want to see. If the guy is difficult to deal with or makes you feel like you are really putting him out, maybe he's got something to hide. See what you like!, then hop on that plane. Just coming from an shitty personal experience.

Thanks for the input guys. Seems like it is best if I do another ground up on the 64 square I have had in my yard for the past two years. With a little encouragement and some focus from the local boys I will do my best to finish this one and maybe even drive it!!! I'll post some pics soon.
