WTB - !966 Split Bus Hockey Stick
« on: August 14, 2011, 11:19:23 PM »
I broke my hockey stick, and i don't want to go the cheap repop route. Does anybody have a parts tranny laying around, or know where i could get a good quality one?

Thanks!

Hey Bruce...wouldn't I also need to flip the ring gear? i was under the impression that i would have 4 reverse gears if i didn't...but i donn't really know. I've never gotten inside the tranny before, but i have done a hockey stick swap.

Don't try to modify the Beetle hockey stick.  I've done it, it's a ton of work, and doesn't work very well.

Get the proper Bus one.  If you can't find an original, CIP sells a repro made in Brazil.

Rollin!

Thanks Notchback! I owe ya one...bug hockey stick was a perfect sub for the type 2 stick. No heating & bending, no new dimple needed; bolted right in, and I have smooth shifting in every gear.

I even bought a '64 tranny in case I had to pull the stick...which wouldn't have worked since it was straight, and the bug one you gave me was bent, just like the broken one it replaced in my '67 bus. (Reverse lights or some shit raise the input shaft requiring the bend)

If the hockey stick you got was bent, it wasn't a Bug one, it is a Bus hockey stick.
