These assholes were out to raise hell, and I expect we'd have seen the same situation even if Vancouver won.Tomorrow we'll be hearing about police brutality against the poor innocent"fans".I wonder if any of these boneheads realize how many cameras are recording all their antics for future reference by the authorities.
what can possibly go wrong?                                                                     64ghia

it is too bad the rest of the people don't take justice into their own hands and stop the punks.  Like when the lights went out in the Canada/Russia series.  They came back on and the Russians were laying on the ice...

no need to be embarrassed for the Canucks. they gave it all they had, just not enough to beat the Bruins... maybe they wanted it more? Some of our crew from Ontario who left the game back for their hotels got pepper sprayed.... welcome to Vancouver! I still think the mayor of Vancouver was a little naive to think "all" the people came with good intentions, WTF was he thinking? I'd have him answering to it...

The jerks weren't hockey fans, just a-holes out to cause trouble. When we were downtown the cops did a great job but it just takes a few pricks..

It isn't the B.C. I know and learned to love over the years. From where I am now in Arizona the news is reporting that the jerks were not at all from B.C. but just a bunch of rouble makers looking for a place to do their thing.

It really is too bad.

B.C. is still a favortie place to visit for our family.

That was awsome what Rex had to say.

Times like this are a great argument to bring stocks back.  And supply a permanent marker so people can draw on whoever is in the stocks. Public flogging needs to come back.

I went to the Grey cup in Vancouver the year after the 94 riots, and the police had things in a Nazi state because of the asshole roiters the year before. I went to the last grey cup in vancouver and things were much more relaxed and a lot more fun.
I hope they don't shut down the fun again this time. The Grey cup parties are a blast when the police trust us to behave as adults.
Lets hope that the trust will be there for this years Grey Cup. Thank you, you rioting assholes, for ruining it for us adults.

agreed, although the kid thought by coming forward to the media would stop this from happening.... the solution would likely be to bring him into court, sentence him to a ton of community service and put it to bed.... or that would inflame the others who want him made an example of?

I had read that his father said he didn't do it when he saw the photos,.. until he saw the video of him lighting the rag, then a piece of paper and putting it on the driver seat of the cop car... busted.

The pic of him lighting the rag hanging from the gas filler is enough to convict him in any court.

CBC shows him trying to light the rag, then adding fuel to the fire inside the police car....

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/story/2011/06/17/calgary-vancouver-riot-athlete.html

Photographer Jordan Dyck says his camera captured a young man holding a lighter to a shirt stuffed into the gas tank of a police car and putting lit paper into the front seat, but the would-be arsonist was stopped by other men.

Seriously? Perhaps being caught in the act on film is why they stepped forward. Do you think anyone would have turned themselves in if no cameras were rolling? I doubt it.

Unfortunately, our parenting skills only go so far... when they hit legal age they can do what they want. Trust me, I'm living it. My kid was down there, could have got involved but realized once bottles were flying around his head and the fires began, that being there wasn't the place to be! I told him I was proud of his actions... as I know the "grunt" mentality can easily take over when a bunch of cavemen fight over a shiny rock... and beat each other up over it. At some point you hope their conscience kicks in from those influences from your parenting. They should all be sorry for their actions, serve the penalty and hopefully learn from it. I expect there'll be some examples made of some people.... which is what it looks like the public wants.

Can't beleive it but I agree with Tweds... I think every person caught should have a permanent record on their files and pay HUGE restitution(someone other than my tax $$ needs to pay for this mess)... Have a flat fee of 50K for each infraction and garnish their wages for years... Brian glad your son made a good descision, good testiment to a person's true morals!
