Tech question (non VW) about Internet service providers
« on: May 04, 2011, 06:53:31 PM »
I am moving into a different apartment in June and want to just have internet, without a home phone or cable TV. To do that, would I have to go through Telus for my internet or can I go to other providers?

Call Shaw and ask them.
Pretty sure they would.

Thanks Chris, I found their ads online. The main question is: am I stuck with those two (cus they 'own' the phone and cable lines) or can I go elsewhere?

They are your best option.

In most cases anyone else you deal with is a reseller of the products that Telus or Shaw provide.

If looking for wireless look into bell wireless, my freind uses a wireless router and saves him lots of money.  He used the Rogers rocket stick at first because he doesn't have internet available to him bacause of remote location, but bell has been awsome and close to half the price, and he can now use more than 1 gig of usage.  He uses about 4 - 8 gigs a month average.
