Fix it ticket transfer with sale?
« on: October 28, 2010, 03:27:09 PM »
I was looking at a bus today that had been issued a ticket for some sort of tail light issue, I never got the entire story but the owner was convinced it had to pass a full provincial inspection either due to the repair shop owners personal grudge with the bus (maybe fishing for extra work), or the cop said it was a rusty wreck. I couldn't find anything on paper that specified it needed a full inspection, maybe that's part of the ticket originally?

Either way does anybody know if such a requirement follows the bus if title is transferred?

Yes it does. If you take the reggy info of the bus down to icbc they are able to run it thru the system and can tell you what type of inspection is required but they can't exactly tell why is was pulled over by the cops in the first place. Buyer beware. If it is a simple fix the burnt out tail light and get it rechecked then that's one thing as apposed to a full blown saftey inspection possible nightmare. I would get the owner to get the matter dealt with first and then sell it to you with a clean bill of health or get the bus for a song and a dance and be prepared for the worse.

There's no such thing as a "fix-it" ticket anymore.  If you get pulled over for a busted tail light, the cop gives you an inspection order.  To pass that, the whole car must be in good shape.

Damn, that's what I suspected, thanks guys.
If I do do anything with it I'll bend the guy over extra on the price, wasn't too rotten but too many holes to pass a provincial at this time as is.

Lesson for all, fix that tail light ;)
