Classic Car Adventures - Sea to Sky Run - October 11th 2010
« on: September 27, 2010, 02:08:44 PM »
Our Annual "Thanksgiving" run will be Octover 11th this year. I know we had Lanny and few others out last year, we should try for a bigger ACVW crowd this year!

Winter is closing in and for many that means the days of driving their classic car are numbered. But don’t pull the cover over your baby too soon, because the 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Day Sea to Sky Run is back!  Once again, this is a quick, local, and fun meetup to “give thanks” for another fine season of motoring.

What: A casual cruise and meetup with fellow classic car owners of all pre-’79 marques and types. Drive the best part of the Sea-to-Sky Highway on a quiet holiday morning, and enjoy the company of classic car nuts before you have to head off to the in-laws for thanksgiving dinner! We have planned it so that you can be back home by midday. Some of you might have done a Sea to Sky run recently with your various car clubs, but its always fun to mix all the marques together and meet new people. And really, who can say no to the beautiful views and winding turns past ocean and mountains – especially on a holiday!

This year’s event will benefit Sea to Sky Food Banks. Please bring a non-perishable boxed or canned food donation (canned fruit, veggies, tuna, etc.).

When: Thanksgiving Monday, October 11, 9:00-11:00am. (SEE BELOW for convoy meetup times)

Where: Galileo Coffee, 173 Highway 99, Britannia Beach, BC

West Vancouver Gathering Location: If you’d like to convoy with others up to Britannia Beach, we will be gathering at the Park Royal Shopping Centre in West Vancouver on the UPPER PARKING LEVEL on the SOUTH side. The group will be LEAVING this spot at 8:30am.

big thanks to warwick (Classic Car Adventures/Vancouver Mini Club) and dave (Classic Car Adventures/Zündfolge Car Club) for organizing yet another spectacular event! the weather was perfect, the company was friendly, the cars were outstanding (with quite a few new breeds present including a 1930-something talbot...among others) and as always that road is really fun to drive!!

so nice to see such a great turnout from the acvw community! hans and his son in that badass black fastback, lanny & henry in the powerwagen, andrew & his son in the cross country westy and rob in the oval! aswell as hans' friend in the porsche 911 (sorry, missed your name)! good times!

early-o'thirty at the meeting spot at park royal...

on the road...

arriving at galileo coffee in brittania beach...

chillin out...what a backdrop!!

i'll post up more pics as time permits!!

What a great event!!  Big thanks to the organizers! It was nice to finally get the car out and get in on one of these events and not just read about it. Really great mix of cars too . Hoping to get some pics up as well . Thanks again!

Second year with great weather - this one is worth the cold hands. That DB2 was awesome.

That DB2 was on last years Spring Thaw. Dave has no issues with driving that car within an inch of its life. He definitely believes cars should be driven!

p.s. nice exit ;)

That red 510 is Kieth Law's , a local legend . Apparently built in the 70's  , won countless slalom championships etc. over the years and still owns it today. I remember that car from those days but never actually met or talked to him until this cruise. Very cool.
