« on: April 30, 2004, 10:18:22 PM »
Im swapping out my beam for a nice adjustable beam built by Airspeed. So it's 10:20 PM and I am covered in grease and dirt from head to toe and the beam is out! Thank god for air tools and trouble lights! Luckily the beam is nice and solid! I will post some pics of my job in the morning, now let the scrubbing begin!

So this morning I finished removing the extras from the beam and it is now stripped down to just the beam! So far total time minus diner breaks is 4.5 hours! I think I am doing damn good for an amatuer working by myself! When does Airspeed open???

Matt,
This is a lowered beam. You would need to remove your old one, strip all parts off and swap the new one in. It will take you at least 8hrs with hand tools for the first time.
The price is 549.95 for the  beam.

Approaching 9 Hours and all that is left to do is install the passenger side assembly! Not such a bad job, messy and greasy, my driveway needs a good scrubbing but its gonna be nice when it's done and I got those nice alloys (hint, hint!) on there!

Thanks for the tips there Geoff, so far so good! My only tip to anyone that tries to do this at home is to have a lot of rags and rubber gloves! There is so much grease involved in this!

I will have to finish this tomorrow, off to the first BBQ of the season!

So the beam is in! The front end is low!! Looks so good! Had to cut off the stops. Was going to raise it up a bit, but it just would not go!? Oh well!! The ass end is lowered as well, but just a bit as I dont have the porsche wheels on the rear yet. I had one mishap and that was the left rear torsion bar came right out on me  :o  So I will have to spend some time getting the height right as it is about 3/4 inch higher than the right side.

Click Here to see some pics!

All I have to say is that the beam from AIRSPEED ( PLUG!!! ) Was the one of the best investments for my van. It corners, it handles and looks damn good!  Imagine how good it will be when I get the camber adjusted correctly!

Ok now its finally done.

All 4 porsche alloy wheels installed, the height difference in the rear corrected, new lower drivers side ball joint installed, new left front brake line installed (argh) and it looks really good, I will post some pics later.

After all that, its really not that bad! :)

And another big thanks to Airspeed!
