I don't think there was any challenge to the stock motor competition.  Didn't Bruce slay them all by almost 3/4 of a second?

yes it's true...bruce did very well in the Stock Motor Challenge and i was one of the first people to congratulate him on his accomplishments.

but you're completely missing the point.

the SMC is not about any one individual "slaying" the competition. it's about getting more people out on the track in their acvws to have a load of fun in a friendly, safe and mildly competitive atmosphere (see the 2 clowns in the pic above...that's good times right there)! it's about personal accomplishments and becoming a better driver and racer (improving your staging, launch, rt, shift points, mph or et plus trying to get creative and think about ways of getting the car to go faster). it's also a place where new or seasoned drivers (our youngest driver still has his "N" and our most seasoned driver has been racing at mission since the street legal nights started {a long time}) can come together and race the 1/4 mile without having to commit to dumping alot of time and money into a race car or hot street/strip car!

so you let us know when you finally finish a car and would like to come join us!  ;)

well just to let you know  I have done a little drag racing myself.  Now it was only on a bike (a Harley with over 450 HP and doing 8:13 at close to 180pmh) so some stock motor stuff just doesn't float my boast.  more power to you guys but I like to play big, if and when I do play....

Bruce "Chipped" the EFI brain, so his motor is no longer stock.... I call that cheating!   :o

Then again, nobody else was trying to breathe through a CAT and a muffler.
Besides, the chip was the only way to advance the timing and remove the silly rev-limiter.

the rules of the SMC state that the engine must be a "stock displacement vw motor...no turbos, nos or superchargers...aftermarket distributor, coil and exhaust is ok"....so there is quite a bit of room for movement. we try to maintain a class that is somewhat monitored without being too strict where it comes down to having to "inspect" every motor (we rely alot on the honesty of the owner/driver) and we also like to try & keep it as welcoming as possible.

the guys from AVR and i were talking about it...ultimately you could get a light weight chassis acvw (buggy, rail, pan with a cage...?) that passes tech and stuff the biggest stock displacement acvw motor in it that you could find (idk...2L FI bus motor...? i'm just throwing that out there) and get a driver with a load of experience and you'd do fairly well. but that's just an idea from a bunch of guys bench racing.

bruce did do quite well and did better the next closest time by .98 of a second and by over 3mph and i think he did what it took to earn his first place finish (he is that crazy guy with the mexi beetle after all  ;) :-*) . but we'll never know what he can do "unchipped"...

...so...it really would be neat if bruce came back next year "un-chipped" just to see what the mexi would do. i'm sure we could get a friendly wager spotted on a race like that! bruce...?

but most importantly...i dont want anyone that participated in the SMC to feel like they got ripped off...so i am very open and willing to discuss any matters that need to be discussed. i encourage all SMC participants (and others) to be vocal and either post their opinions and ideas here in this thread or on this website or to please contact me via pm or email.

i truly enjoy the SMC for what it is but there is always room for improvements and with some ideas and opinions there is the possibility of it becoming even bigger & better!!

It's not cheating, it's called bending the rules to fit. ;)  It's all in how a person interpretes the rules.
Maybe you need to put some ballast in his car for next year... lol_hitting

its a fix, I saw Bruce rubbing Silas' butt after stuffing a wad of DQ $1 off coupons for dilly bars in his pocket!

Your busted! Now let everyone know just how much of a sham this really is!

it was more of a massage with a happy ending than a rub...and they were canadian tire dollars...cause i'm lactose intolerant and dilly bars give me the mud butt. ;D

And add detonation.   ;D

Next year Bruce, you need to add some of that Ohio pump gas.
