you never know if and where the bus and the 56 vert parts will turn up, so i figure it's our duty to be on the lookout up here in the great white north. some people may remember seeing the 56 vert at the great canadian last year. owned by a guy named julio. unrestored and in great shape. i have never seen the bus in person, but i'm sure some people here have heard of hot dog fred.

this is truly a rotten thing to happen, so if we can help out by keeping our eyes on the www and our ears open to who's selling or receiving said parts, i'm sure it would be greatly appreciated.

FYI, not everyone has access to Rants and Raves at the Samba...

I imagine some of you have heard by now, that \"Hot Dog Fred\" Waugaman, the guy who is always cooking the 'dogs and 'brats at the OCTO show, and many many other shows, had his 21 window stolen today. In it, were all of Fred's tools, his high-quality reproduction ladders, and reknowned artist Tim Leventry's credit cards and checkbook, even a 36 horse engine that Fred had sold, and was supposed to deliver today. As well, a guy named Julio, who owned possibly one of the nicest unrestored Anthracite Gray '56 convertibles in existence, had his car broken into last night, and the thieves took his original paint decklid, convertible-only sempahores, rear seat, back window, and interior rear view mirror. If you are one of the people that did this, be aware- This is a small community, and there are eyes and ears all over the globe, waiting to catch you and bring you to justice. Julio has promised that there will be no repercussions if his parts are brought back. I imagine Fred would say the same thing, but I cannot speak for him. If you are one of the perpetrators, know that the VW world is watching. Japan. Mexico. France. The U.K. Canada. All over the United States. The word is out. If you are found with these parts, be prepared to reap the whirlwind. I am sure that \"Stolen\" reports will be showing up on the Samba soon enough, and I would ask that all \"Sambanistas\" be on the lookout for an original paint, blue and white, 1965, 21 window Bus, and Oval-era Convertible parts.
People, I cannot stress enough- INSURE YOUR CAR FOR THE FULL VALUE !!!! MAKE SURE YOUR VW, COLLECTIBLE OR NOT, IS INSURED FOR THE FULL AMOUNT !!! Yes, it will cost you more than the typical insurance. But the money you save- if the unthinkable happens, will it have been worth it?
Although this all happened in the vicinity of the Kelley Park show, it has NOTHING repeat NOTHING to do with the Golden Gate Chapter of the Vintage VW Club of America, this was someone, or some people, that knew the Kelley Parl weekend brings out the cream of the crop of the Vintage VWs, and that they would be able to fulfill their \"shopping list\" the cheap, lowlife, scum of the earth, no reason to waste perfectly good air by breathing, way. I hope you get caught. I hope you do hard time, in the worst prison in America. I hope they put you in a cell with a 350 pound career felony offender, that is serving a double life sentence. I HOPE YOU PAY.

thanks ehos, i was wondering if that would be a problem. i dont know why the pics arent showing. they worked when i previewed the thread before posting.

the 56 is anthracite grey with a cream top. it was found in an old ladies garage in mint, unrestored shape. it was part of the berg cruisers at last years great canadian, if anyone remembers seeing it. the back window was cut right out, the semaphores and w vert lid and back seat were taken right off the car.

the bus is a 2 tone blue & white 21 window with a full length roof rack and was filled with other parts as well.

stay on the lookout.

 you know if we collected $5 from every guy that would like 5 minutes with those dirt bags we could probably start the beetle plant in mexico again or at least help this guy get some parts from somewhere. What a bunch of dicks. How can you do that, thats unreal to think that someone would do that to another person especially in the group that we are all in. You dont have these cars for money you have them because you want to enjoy them. There are too many overly descriptive words that I am prepared to use right now.......

The exact same thing happened to my 57 convert, One day after I put the bug in my yard some guy came and stole the rear window and my taillights. I feel for the owner that was a origanal car in great shape

It is the one wierd thing about vw poeple (the bad ones) for some reason more than others if they can not buy it they take it, Many autowreckers will not even let bug guys in because of that!

I hope that the guilt he has is overwhelming and if not, I hope his car burns to the ground!

Cheers Steveo_32
