T2 Tech questions
« on: December 08, 2009, 12:46:18 PM »
Is it possible to put a balljoint beam in a pre 67?  Is it even worth it. I'm about to do a type 3 tranny swap and a 944NA brake upgrade in my 60 euro panel. Before I get the hubs machined I have to figure out what spindles I'm going to use. I have noticed that it seems easier to find 63.5 and newer K&L stuff so I'm assuming the pre 63 stuff isn't reproduced.  I realize the center pin on the bay beam is different but is that the only thing that needs modified?

I want to narrow the beam and put boxster rims on it aswell. Would it be easiest to just order one and who makes the best for the best price. How narrow should I go? My rims are the 17" twists 6.5 fronts and 8.5 rears. Im almost sure the rears are too wide. They just fit my bay westy last summer.

Thanx guys

68 bus beam bolts right in and is ball joint. The king pin beam will go lower and with todays spindles and brakes I'd stick with the orig beam

If you wanna run 944 brakes id definately run a 64-67 beam with 83-85 944 hubs and rotors then you can run whatever caliper you want depending if your wheel will allow it. I did this conversion this year and it worked out great
