And the tear down...

This one scared me at first, the metal bit on the right was stuck to the magnetic drain plug. Took me a while, but I think it's the rivet off the oil screen. With the way the engine is sitting at the moment, I can't pop the screen out to see what's going on.

So the pushrod seals on the one side were super wet, lots of oil. Crank pulley had no signs of oil, and the area was dry. Top of the case makes me think there could be oil-cooler seal issues too.
And now the fun...

That ain't greasy dirt...that's aluminum. (p.s. nice cracks!)

So, thoughts? I'm likely taking the 4Runner to the DVKK Xmas party, but I have to be honest...I'm tempted to just button 'er back up for the Xmas party and then focus on building the new mill. Driver's side head definitely wasn't torqued down properly. I've put 50,000 miles on the engine, and who knows how many before I bought it. Worst part is I could have caught it when the exhaust note changed. I thought I had a pretty rusty heaterbox/Jtube on the Driver's side, so I mostly ignored it. Lesson learned!
