Hey Guys,
I got a Vehicle in from overseas... I'm trying to register it however it wasn't officially imported, I have no registration or title. Just a bill of sale..... I've heard through the grapevine that there is a guy that finds registrations for the Hot rodders. Basically I need to give him my vin and he finds something and voila insta regi.
Anybody have some contacts?
Cheers.

You can try Mark, (604) 937-7104 he used to do registration issues with hot rods.... assuming he still does.

Depending on what type of car it is, you may just have to apply for a BC Assigned V.I.N.

Its a 1981 BMW 323I. It somehow made its way across the pond from England with no engine, no regi no nothing. My best bet was it was brought over and the hopes of federalizing it happened sometime later, someone lost interest in the project and parked it...
anyways still looking for ideas.

Is it a right hooker?
Is it as rotten as every other English car?

Car was remarkedly solid. However it just went through a total respray. Most of the rust I figure came from sitting in the Volvo wrecking yard here for 10 years. It is a right hooker. The brake booster set up is... umm interesting to say the least!

Hey man. Bc assigned vin may be the only way around it classified as a rebuild. The other way that has been done before is to get the bill of sale notorized as well as a letter from the previous owner stating that the reg was lost or missing. This has worked for cars That were already imported but not sure how it would work for this sennario.

Later.
Use it like ya mean it! Drive it like ya stole it!

I'd say let it go.
Nobody really wants a RHD car when there are plenty of LHD cars to pick from.

Well considering it was a European only model that North America never got... And it just went through 16 grand worth of body and paintwork I'm going to say no to that suggestion.

Thanks for the ideas guys.

Yeah, Kirin already owns the car. Theres no letting it go.

Anyways, yeah since you had to purchase a motor from a seperate car, this car is very easily registerable as a U-Built with a BC Assigned vin. not really a big deal, all you have is a second vin tag on your A or B jamb. You keep the original vin on the car, for I.D./ service and parts situations. Then you just have paper work for the Second vin number and all is well.

You would go through that process when the car is complete. Kind of like if you built a trailer or camper yourself and had to insure that.

Jakub gets it. His method is an alternative. I haven't gotten around to actually sorting it out yet. Simply i've been swamped with school stuff however if you want to know the method I'm going to use PM me....

Pics of the car???

Id say give ICBC a call and see what they have to say... My bet is you will need the papers from when it was from England (or where ever) in order to get papers for it here.

I'm sure I can track down some info on it. I know it was originally sold in Bristol at "Dick Lovett" BMW. Not kidding although I find that fact hilarous....

I've never been kickd off any BMW site. And anyways this information is pertinant for a lot of a people. I'm sure there are more than a few cars out there with lost or no longer existant regis.

As for ICBC I doubt they will ever push through such policy. I think the 40% increase in accidents in RHD vehicles mostly stem from the kids that go out and buy Skylines. They get profiled like mad.. And when you get people used to FWD underpowered vehicles and put them in even adequately powered RWD cars and no real concept of oversteer....... You get cars wrapped around polls, bus stops etc.

Now if they had a increase in left hand turn accidents involving RHD vehicles I could imagine.... However it probably won't affect me since once this things done I'm flipping it and buy a bus.

All that thing need is some Either BBS RS or BBS E30's. And an Alpina or other front airdam and you have one of my dream cars.

I dont think i would trade that for a bus.

The information I found was that all RHD vehicle operators are more prone to having accidents mostly to misjudgement in left turns....

It did not specify young drivers, understandable due to the ever increasing presence of RHD vehicles on the road being operated by a wide variety of people.

So from the sounds of your posts so far, you bought this off someone who had already transported it here, do they not have any paperwork? Have you done any sort of VIN search on it yet?

this.  It has absolutly nothing to do with young kids and Skylines
