Last race's of the year for me
« on: September 13, 2009, 02:28:43 AM »
Just got back from racing at Kelowna, and am still to wired to go to bed.  So had to post a video  on youtube.  First race I was making sure everything was ok with the 14.7 pound spring I put in, then once I saw it was only just shy of 12psi I booted on it, and just barely lost .  All the other races are kinda self explanetory.  I could have raced once more but decided to put it on the trailer after winning the much hyped up Nissan GT-R ( Nissans supercar) race, the laughs about that one from a few people before the race were priceless, I was on a hair trigger for that race, and was on quite the high after winning, so I figured that is the best way to end the year.

Had a blast racing this year once I took off my holley carb after 60 no good passes since last year with it on, and put on the dellorto for the last 3 races..WOW!!!!! I don't know why I ever doubted the dellorto in the first place. Was looking for the 11 second pass at mission ( but only could manage 9 psi boost), so that never happend, and then was looking for the 7 second 1/8 mile pass at Kelowna since I installed the 14 pound spring today ( which turned out to be a 11.5 Ughh)...that never happened either.....moral of the story is to bring all the springs I have for boost to every race, no matter what I think when preparing

What I have noticed about Kelowna  is I lost about .3 tenths and 5 mph with the same boost at 4300 feet  compared to racing Mission without changing jetting to compensate for the thinner air, so next year will be the year to forsure get my 11 second 1/4 pass once I get the boost to 14 pounds.  Ultimatly looking for a low 11 run with a singleport once all the bugs are worked out.  Of course that is easy to say, doing it will be the hard part.

I have some good exciting news  for me anyway, regarding my run against the GT-R and my time of 8.101 @ 86.7 mph.....  speaking in the world of NHRA correction factors an  for elevation which is at 4300', and not what the air was at that evening just straight #'s from the sheet, I would have ran a 7.93 @ 88.44 mph 1/8 mile  if I was at Mission and the air was at regular elevation. Converting that and we get
Your 1/4 Mile ET is 12.44 seconds computed from your vehicle 1/8th ET of 7.93 seconds.
Your 1/4 Mile MPH is 109.67 MPH computed from your vehicle 1/8th MPH of 88.44 MPH

My 60' on that run was  1.819,  slicks at 25 psi.

So whoopee I got my 7 second run.. ;D  based on  a calculated scenerio    ;)

Kevin,

I didn't realize Kelowna was at such a high altitude!  I will give it a try next summer, on my next trip to Vernon to visit relatives.

We are at 3,300 ft in Calgary and the best air density we've had this year was 3919' last Friday...when I got my new fastest ET.  Usually its 4,800-5,200' and sometimes more.

Congratulations on your ET's this year :)

Kelowna is at 1150'.  The race track is way the hell out of town where nobody lives, up by Big White ski hill.

Sounds good Neil, remember how we were talking about how my belt seemed to tight?  Well it decided to slip and fly off at the track after I loosened it up by 1 shim.  I will keep it tight from now on.

Any body know the best way to remove smeared rubber from the pulley?
