64 convertible
« on: August 22, 2009, 09:57:04 PM »
This is how it was when I bought it 3 years ago. Solid but needed some TLC.

Missing a bunch of parts, interior etc.

Tired single port 1600 with dual carbs. Nice firewall! :-[

                                                l
Bought this mirror in California.    \l/

This is it now. Doesn't look like it's changed much, but a lot of $$$ went into it.

2276cc. It's a little quicker now.

New suspension, tires, brm's, narrowed beam and a good cleaning.

All new interior (minus front seats), autometer gages, km speedo, flat 4 wheel, etc. Back seat I picked up from Cali and it wasn't cheap.

It's an ongoing project, as most of them are. My goal was to bring it into the 21st century even with the 90's paint.

Future plans include: Rancho gearbox, front disc brakes and chrome fuchs. Oh yeah, and body and paint. ;D

I have always loved that car, I remember when the orig owner (well the guy who painted it that color) finished it sometime back in 89 I think. Cool car!

Thanks for the positive feedback. The best part is that my kids love it and always want to go for a ride in it.

Wheel is from CIP1.

Nice car!
I remember this car in the early 90`s, it was owned by a guy in North Vancouver named Boyd, he was a Graffic design guy.  Used to come by Bigsby`s off of Commercial Drive. VW 144th, and Darren Dilley may remember this car!

Thanks,
Shawn :)

Yes

I do remember helping with the reassembly of this car after it was painted, getting the front window in was a huge bitch....

It sure has held up well over the years

Haven't done much lately as free time is scarce. But added repro swan neck mirrors (this past summer) and am in the process of installing an Airkewld front disc brake kit.

The brakes are a very easy and straight forward install.

some 205/70's would really fill up that fender well :)

It sits just right, the way it is.  No need for truck tires.
