what she is talking about is on Form 1 the CBSA officer didnt stamp it twice. There is a spot on the top right and mid page on the right.

Hum, someone correct me if I'm wrong but one stamp only means you need two inspections. One provincial and one federal....something like that. I remember with my car that because I had both stamps the lady said I only needed the one inspection!

Anything 15 years and older needs only OPP inspection.

If I remember correctly the second stamp exempts it from having to enter the RIV program. Something to that effect? It's some sort of exemption stamp anyways.

Yeh.. the second stamp is dependant on RIV exemption.. The first is rather important.. as this is the import completion one.  :-\

why would you be exempt from RIV?  Every car I have brought in has to go through RIV.  I did my bike to day.  I was able to bang off two inspections in just a couple minutes.  You gotta love Canadian Tire mechanics who have no clue what bikes are!

As I mentioned before, it's older then 15 years and exempt from federal inspection and RIV fee as well.

I didn't think you exempt for RIV for 15 years plus.  So what do you do then just a Provincial inspection?  After getting your Form 1 from the Border what is next?  I was under the assumption that you had to do both the Federal and Provincial inspections regardless.  The 15 year thing only allowed any vehicle in rather than one on the list of acceptable imported vehicles.

Yes, just the OPP inspection. I'm looking at my form with the stamp of it being a RIV exempt. There is a check box that is checked that states it's because it's 15 years or older. Here:

what is OPP?  So you are saying all that you need to do is a Provincial inspection then.

OPP as in Out-Of-Province inspection. Yes, that's it.

Yes.. just provincial.

Went to border.. dude apologized and said it's actually happened a couple of times. Back dated the stamp.. and off to the insurance place.

THEN the agent goes over it all.... "oh sorry, the vehicle is too old and not in the computer. I need you to take it and get a weigh-scale certificate for registration."   OMFG!!!!!

I jumped over the counter to strang....... rather pull up the manual on Samba and told her to print it.

.... Paid my SECOND tax... and got plates.    ;D

ICBC agents are such idiots, it's unheard of! I had one once try to convince me that the previous owner(out of province car) had to personally be present at ICBC to transfer the ownership!
Anyway, congrats! Glad to hear it. Just in time for GCVW, eh? I'm not there with my bus yet.... still has some issues to sort out. Of mechanical nature, not administrative. Luckily.
