I've been thinking about renting a truck and trailer to pick the bus up. It might be feasible for a piece of mind. Then I don't have to drive the GTI and drive two cars back. Any experience with this, especially the rates? The online info on Uhaul and Penske is near non-existent.

Luckily a friend came through last minute for me as I was going to tow it home. I checked U-haul and used them before. For some reason, they want to only rent a truck and trailer with different drop offs. I was going to pick it up in Vancouver and drop it off in North Vancouver! That would work for them. The cost was about $185 for a day for truck and trailer. I think there would have been an extra charge for KM's too.

I've tried calling Penske, and apparently they don't do it "locally". U-haul, same thing. They don't do it "locally" either. I was like WTF does "locally" mean then, I'm going to Oregon! Apparently it means "two-way".

when i called to reserve, they said no problem as long as the city picking up was different than the city dropping off. Burnaby, Van, whatever. They made my reservation, I just cancelled it because of other options, not because they wouldn't do it. Pick it up in whiterock, return it to langley? When you pick it up, say oh, I just have to whip down to Blaine for beer!

I wasn't going to pick it up from Blaine but from Corvallis in Oregon.
