cruise this saturday....
« on: May 27, 2009, 08:37:17 PM »
...to AVR!

this is nothing more than an excuse to get some vws and their owners out on the road together for a casual cruise on what looks like should be a spectacular day!!! 8)

saturday may 30th (this saturday).

meet at 9am at the mcdonalds on grandview highway (2909 Grandview Highway...NE corner of grandview and renfrew in vancouver). i know it's kind of a hassle to get heading east towards the highway from here...but a quick loop around 12th ave will get us pointed in the right direction. plus we can fill our bellies with the greasy goodness that is a bacon & egg mcbarfin! ;)

leave mcdonalds at 930am sharp!!

for those of you that live in the langley/surrey/cloverdale area that want to join in...

edit

...we'll be pulling in to the ***new pit stop/meeting spot in langley is the tim hortons by the shell & wendy's just of 200th & 86th!!*** around 10am-1015am for a coffee & a pitstop!!

edit

leave tim hortons around 1030-1045am and arrive at AVR (#6 34220 S Fraser Way, Abbotsford) around 11-1130am!!!

browse the shop, hang out, bench race, etc for as long as we feel like (or until we get kicked out ;)) and then hit the road for home.

if we make it back to vancouver alive...there is the allday grease & grind car show (mostly pre-71 hot rods) at pats pub (403 E. Hastings St.) that we can cruise to!!!

as always...it's all about having fun & driving the cars...so come on out & enjoy!!!

who's in?

Great idea Silas!  Look forward to hopefully meeting some more people from the aircooled community.

Won't be available to cruise since I will be at AVR working. ;D

Sounds like a good plan, nice moves Silas!

Hmmm...9:30 departure means 8:30 out of Squamish. I should be able to make this one...

rob...we'll see you saturday!!

geevy...let me know if you need an extra set of hands or some spare parts to get the vert running strong.

ray...looks like the spring check up for your motor will be a rolling one ;). looking forward to seeing you & the oval!

dave...i was tossing times around for awhile and didnt want to make it too early or too late...830 out of squamish isnt too bad (the 3rd leg of the spring thaw departed sunpeaks at 8am after-all 8)).

it would be cool to meet a group at the timmies in langley too....anyone into it??

 :)

i suggest you take stop at the timmys that is on the south side, better parking situation, get off at 200th head south, turn left at the shell station its in the same lot as the wendys, easier to get back on the hwy heading east....

chris (vwboop)...it would be great to see you, even if it's just for a coffee!

geoff...next time buddy...and we'll tell 'em all at avr about your man-crush! ;)

derrick & dave...we'll see you cats on saturday!

cheech...hop on it buddy...you gotta be there!!!

vwchris...you're talking about the tim hortons down by 64th across from willowbrook mall, correct?

if no-one is opposed to chris' idea of meeting there and it is indeed easier to get back to the highway and heading east (and it isn't just chris' bait to guide us to his underground love nest :D)...then i say we do it!!

If anyone needs a hoist due to the long trip to Abbotsord it will be available.  Not that old cars ever breakdown. :o

Sweet! It gets better with every post.

Possibly too late to ask, but do you guys have a black door panel set in stock?  '69 beetle.

Hmmm, I should really compile my parts list...

I've uploaded my photos to Flickr, I wish I could remember everyone's name and car...but unfortunately names and my memory don't get along well.

Anyways...here's a teaser...

What a great way to enjoy the sunshine and your VW or Porsche.

Thanks Silas for coming up with the idea.
