Intalling a windshield on a F N stupid beetle!!!!!

Help

I am trying to instal a windshield on this 79 SB. The trouble is those little claws that run all the way around on the inside lip are making my life HELL!!! Can I cut them off???

The claws have to come out unless you have an OG seal, bet ya wish you though of that before paint huh? Drill the welds and remove the strips.

how did that work out for you?? i asked my boss today (cert glass guy) informed me that they are there to keep the sealing area tight, he also said removing them could cause leaks or worst still glass falling out, as much of a pain that they are they should be kept in rabbits had the same system, if there is truth to this its your call, just wanted to let ya know my findings!

They are only able to be used on the orig seals.....all new seals do not use them. The new seals work perfect without them.
