The new display case
« on: June 26, 2008, 08:09:03 PM »
Neighbors put this out for scrap! :o 1957 Westinghouse freezer. We quickly rescued it and are gonna use it as a display case for some of our vw toys. Kinda cool...the shelves have a date stamp underneath - July 18, 1957 (July 18 is my birthday). Gotta wax and clean it but will post pics when done...it may be awhile before we can get to it.

We had one similar to that a while back. My grandparents bought it used in the late 40s. The people that sold it to them said they didn't know how long it would last because they had it for quite some time. My dad thinks it was a late 1930s model. We finally got rid of it in 1999. Built when we knew how to build things (like our cars ;) )

Mine is still full of beer in my basement! Over 50 years old and still working perfectly(a bit too energy inefficient but cool anyways!)
