Whats the bolt pattern?
« on: June 22, 2008, 10:43:09 PM »
Kind of a stupid question but I want to get new "wide 5" rims and am not sure what the actual bolt pattern is?

5x5.5?

thanks.

the 5.5 you saw is the width of the wheel.  That will vary depending on the wheels you are looking at.

What is it in imperial though?

Basically, what other types of vehicles share the bolt pattern? Someone told me it is the same as suzukis which I believe are 5x5.5 bolt pattern, meaning fullsize fords would work as well. That is where im going with this.

thanks

25.4mm = 1"

as far as what other bolt patterns are exactly like an early 5x205.....i'm pretty close to certain that it is an exclusive bolt pattern to acvw's only.

Pretty much but there are a couple others that used that bolt pattern.  Porsche obviously but a company called Tatra had that bolt pattern and if memory serves there are European Fords that had that bolt pattern for a time.  Here is a picture of a Tatra from the correct time period.

I actually saw 2 of these once in a garage back in my Medicine Hat days.  My friend Brian told me about them and we were able to get the owner to let us see them.  Odd vehicle to say the least... rear engine V8 and aircooled to boot.

I'm sure about Tatra but not necessarily that particular vehicle.  Just happened to be the one that came up on search.  I actually have a pair of 16"x 4" wheels that are of unknown origin.  Slotted like a '66 beetle wheel.

I have one of those too. Not welded together but riveted. I had heard it was off an old ford. Not sure what year though.

Also heard that some old British cars used 5x205 bolt pattern.

Those early 16" riveted Ford wheels (at least there was a Ford crest stamped on the ones I had) will not bolt up to bus hubs, they look right but they won't quite fit without really bodging them on.  I think they were 8" bolt centers or something, and 205mm is a bit over 8".   I had hoped they would work on an old barndoor bus I had (wayyy back in the day...) but no dice.
0-60 in...umm...can I call you back?
