I am taking my beetle out tonight so anybody out there who sees a blue beetle with flames come over and say hi.

Thunder Mountain Raceway is located approx 40 Kilometers out of of Kelowna on Highway 33,  approx 6 km past the Big White turn off  for those of you in Kelowna who don't know where it is.

Racing starts at 6:00,   $5.00 to watch.

See you

Kevin

do they still have the boulders at the end of the track if you don't stop in time?  I remember a local guy (forget his name) running an exhibition pass in his beautiful red mustang pro mod going out the end and over the rocks destroying his new car!!

Nope certanly didn't go that fast, 6 passes, with absolutly no tuning on the carb other than free rev in the driveway.  first pass... bog into second....awsome 43 mph 1/8 mile ::), It was very humbling experiance ( kind of like my 21 second 1/4 mile with the e-brake on bucking and jerking the first 300 feet) and was glad some other guy coasted to a 20 something mph run later on in the evening., no clue how much to turn the adjust a jet on the holley for adjustment  so did 1/2 turn leaner every pass . Every run was not good, huge bog at different places in each gear, and had to settle for a best of 76mph @ 9.6.  This wouldn't have happened if I could have had the car out this morning on the freeway for some good load driving.  Problem was ICBC in Sicamous had no computers till we left for the track, so no insurance till the car was on the trailer ready to go, and we had to stop in  along the way, but ohwell, still had fun hanging out there chatting with other racers.  Fastest car tonight did a 8.2 @ 8?.  It was a supercharged mustang, next was a  subaru pick-up with a STI AWD conversion 8.4 @ 77.

I didn't set up the perameters on the wide band for data logging and rpm signal, to much rush to get going and forgot many times in the days before, so hopefully tomorrow I can get whatever it did record onto my computer and see how I was doing.  I relized that while going down the track it is hard to look at the wide band  even though it has a very huge Led red display and get a clear picture of what the engine is doing from 4000 up to 6400, other than it was rich and it didn't read less than 10.1.  At some times it read very lean in between boggs and me letting off the gas and back onto the gas.  The funny thing is I told myself many times while it was bright and sunny to look at the boost guage to see how much boost I was making while going down the track....nope have no clue what it was, so I can only go by that the guy said it was a 7 pound spring when I got it.

So I have my work cut out for me now with tuning, I would like to get into the 7's on street tires for next time out.
