Spring Sprint 2008
« on: April 07, 2008, 07:49:32 PM »
this is a cause that is near and dear to my girlfriend lori & my heart and any help, support or participation will be greatly appreciated.

lori's niece erin is 25 years old and has been a brain tumour survivor/fighter since october 2003. she has had surgery and has been through chemotherapy a number of times. through all this she has maintained a positive attitude and outlook on life, and works hard and volunteers alot of her time to the community that she lives in. she is an inspiration, with a heart of gold, and we all love her very much.

there are over 50,000 people living in canada that suffer from brain tumours, and i dont know if anyone here is directly affected by this disease (themselves, their family, friends, co-workers)....but here is a chance to make a difference.

may 3rd, 2008 is the vancouver 2008 spring sprint. it is a 5km walk around beautifull deer lake park. check-in is at 10am and the walk starts at 11am. this event is to raise awareness and money for the brain tumour foundation of canada.

so what we need to do is donate or participate (or both).

lori is registered...so if you want to sponsor her you can do so here....

http://my.e2rm.com/personalPage.aspx?regis...&LangPref=en-CA

both lori & i will be participating in the walk, and if anyone would like to join us that would be great. cruise your acvw or h2ovw to the park and spend a couple hours walking for a good cause. B)

it would be so great to see some asf faces and cars out that day.

you can read more about the brain tumour foundation of canada here....

just wanted to follow up on the 2008 spring sprint.....

despite the weather, the event was a great success. there was a big turnout of participants, in a beautifull setting, a band, free food & drinks and alot of enthusiasm.

not only did the vancouver spring sprint 2008 meet there fundraising goal....they beat it by over $5000!!!!!!

i just wanted to thank anyone that took a minute to read this thread. imho, it's not always about donating money or participating in these types of events...but even just reading and thinking about something can bring awareness to the cause. i know that kind of sounds flakey...but i dont care, that's how i roll. ;)
