Hello,

Not been on here in a while but after some advice.
I am thinking of tidying up my engine bay. I either want to chrome up the tinware or repaint them in gloss black.
I am getting conflicting advice about chrome tinware wot working well and heat and cooling could be affected. Others say it will be fine.

I like the look of the chrome and while I am at it I may put in a 30hp fan shroud.

Anyone use chrome tinware, ie front and rear tin, fan shroud, cylinder covers, backing plate, etc.

1200 standard btw, so no holes in the engine lid.

Everybody knows that chrome tinware makes three times more horsepower, than the standard black tin.

Okay, really... I think the best way to go is stock tin. Sandblast it, and repaint it black.

3 x 30 hp - man, that would be fast.

If you want to do it once and be done get some original pieces and have them powder coated. If you can find the cylinder tins

I recommend powder coating it, last forever and looks good.... Russ on here is the guru....

I just want a clean look that is easy to keep clean.
Powder coating is not a route I will be taking tho.
Chrome or gloss black, I just cannot decide at the moment.

I am painting the block also.

Pleeeezee don't torture yourself by trying to install the aftermarket CRAP tinware. It does not fit.
Repaint your original VW sheet metal.

i read somewhere that when you lacerate yourself trying to get the aftermarket tin to fit,the chrome shows off the blood stains quite nicely
