Well after I gave away most of my stuff . I now end up with a new project in my driveway. It's just a shell . All it needs is heater channels. Which are easy to do plus the odd patch.

Now the issue is do I keep it or sell it .
  Reasons to sell.

Wife doesn't want it in the driveway.

I have a lot of parts to scrounge up .

Reasons to keep.

If I sell it will be most likely hacked up.

It's an oval.

tough call.

it might be easier to sell if the heater channels & patches were done...but you have to figure out if it's worth your time & effort.

collecting all the missing pieces would be time consuming.

not directed at you chris, but i dont care who you are & what you say about the fact that there are still \"tons\" of old acvws out there......i hate seeing ovals get cut up.

what happened to grandmas old black oval (just dont tell me you cut it up ;) )?

:mullet: Nope no papers, rumour has it pan was kept for a dune buggy.  But i might do a title search if I keep it. Oval pans with reg'y are kinda hard to find

Chris is right an owner can do with it as they please. And with a nice H apron and a decent front clip it would be a sweet parts car.

Maybe I'll sell the three spoke steering wheel that it comes with to help pay for the heater channels.

The race car idea was the first thing I thought of when I heard about this bug :mullet: .

And yes Silas grandmas beetles is safe and sound. Like everything at my house almost done but years from being finished  :D

Hey Chris,

Keep vs Part out?

Tough call to make, it's very personal. As you know I went the \"parts scrounging\" route on my 58. I think I was one item ahead of you, I had a pan. The \"no papers\" issue is not a big deal it took me about 6 month, $250 and lots of bureaucratic bs.

Here's my take on the pro's and con's:

The pro's
- It's kind of fun, especially when you find that hard to find piece.
- You get to learn alot about your car, especially if you go back to original.
- You meet a lot of cool and knowledgable people.
- Sense of accomplishment, you've basically taken a shell and built a car. Kind of cool.

The con's
- It's expensive, unless you have a stash of parts.
- It's time consuming, you spend a lot of time searching for parts and info.
- The likelyhood of being distracted by a better and more advanced project is overwhelming

Good luck with your decision!!!

What if it gets cut up to save a split?  Or an oval convertible?

Well so far I'm thinking shes a keeper. I almost have enough parts here to put it on the road.

I'm not going to go stock with it tho, thats to pricy. Mind you I do have a running stock 57 motor for her ........................... nah 6v can be a pain in the ass.
